Hannity has been pushing this story for a couple weeks...... Supposedly, Obama once was "friendly" toward Mr. Ayers.

He's not, and has never been, part of Obama's staff.... but that won't matter.

Hannity will say that it is a "disturbing pattern" in which Obama is polite and friendly with people who have done or said dastardly things.

Just watch.... Ayers is next week's Wright.

11. My sister just call from Ky. She was in Frankfort, Ky
today with a group of retired State workers that she once work with. Most present had decided to switch to Hillary after the Rev. was exposed. What surprised her most was one of her closest friends who is very active in Dem party there and she has been very strong for BO, she has now decided to go Hillary, saying she knows nothing about BO's background except for the Rev.

If dumb-cluck Hannity is having a walk in the park, you know you're in trouble.

Pick your favorite MSM entity; you may be getting the story from them soon. If they had been doing their homework, instead of fawning over the empty suit, doughboy Hannity would not be in danger of getting a Pulitzer for his work this year.

(I haven't had cable for a good 5-7 years so I get no news of the Fox cretins except here at DU.)

He will give us the leadership to fix the breaks and bitterness between almost every divide laid on us by the bickering and slights that come from competition and the turmoil that stops us from penetrating corruption.

16. A little bit of history...
During the Viet Nam war, there was an activist anti-war
student group on many college campuses... S.D.S.
the Students for a Democratic Society.

They were behind many demonstrations and protests
to end the war.

In the annual convention of June 1969, a more radical
splinter group of the SDS broke away from the larger circle
claiming that peaceful means were no longer working,
and that the war must end 'by any means necessary.'

The "Weather Underground' comes from a line of a Bob Dylan
song: "You don't have to be a weatherman to know which
way the wind blows."

Many of the leaders in the Weather Underground were driven
'underground' by government efforts to quash their organizing.
("Underground" meaning they changed their identity and tried
to blend into the culture around them)

Some of them went to jail for what today would be considered
homeland terrorism (there were events of throwing animal blood
on military records, the bombing of laboratories that researched
new weapon development, etc etc.)- these events symbolic of the
system of death.

Sadly, the standards for 'authenticity' for Senator Obama seem to
be much more stringent than for other candidates. Bill Clinton had
a youthful past also, but that didn't taint him.

Simply being civil and polite to others, no matter what their background,
should be a symbol of his wisdom and kindness to others, and ultimately
his suitability for leadership.

If Senator Obama is made unacceptable because he met Bill Ayers,
then meeting me, shaking my hand, would harm him also. His story
is my story.

I recall back in the late 60's in Fayetteville, Arkansas we lived near the University of Arkansas campus and my Granddad told me to stay away from the SDS. I also recall the YAF - Young Americans For Freedom, basically young republicans. I was apolitical at the time, pussy and beer were my priorities.

29. FACT CHECKER on Ayers:
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/02/obamas_weatherman_connection.html

In the short term, the person who has most to gain by speculation about Obama's acquaintance with a former terrorist is Hillary Clinton. The former First Lady likes to present herself as "tested and vetted" after years of exposure to Republican attacks, in contrast to Obama, a relative newcomer to hardscrabble presidential politics. Such arguments resonate with Johnson, the counterterrorism expert, who told me that he is a Clinton supporter, although not involved with the campaign.

But the Obama-Ayers link is a tenuous one. As Newsday pointed out, Clinton has her own, also tenuous, Weatherman connection. Her husband commuted the sentences of a couple of convicted Weather Underground members, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Sue Evans, shortly before leaving office in January 2001. Which is worse: pardoning a convicted terrorist or accepting a campaign contribution from a former Weatherman who was never convicted?

Whatever his past, Ayers is now a respected member of the Chicago intelligentsia, and still a member of the Woods Fund Board. The president of the Woods Fund, Deborah Harrington, said he had been selected for the board because of his solid academic credentials and "passion for social justice."

"This whole connection is a stretch," Harrington told me. "Barack was very well known in Chicago, and a highly respected legislator. It would be difficult to find people round here who never volunteered or contributed money to one of his campaigns."

Ayers said in the New York Times on 9/11/2001 that he didn't regret anything, (I guess including the people they killed) and they didn't "blow up enough things." He said that on the day the World Trade towers were coming down. You also left out the fact that Obama was introduced to the Chicago south side activist community at Ayer's house in Hyde Park when he first ran for the sate senate.

Clinton Camp Pushes O-Bomber Links: Ignores Her Own Radical Ties
By: Justin Rood

ABC News - The Hillary Clinton campaign pushed to reporters today stories about Barack Obama and his ties to former members of a radical domestic terrorist group -- but did not note that as president, Clinton's husband pardoned more than a dozen convicted violent radicals, including a member of the same group mentioned in the Obama stories.

"Wonder what the Republicans will do with this issue," mused Clinton spokesman Phil Singer in one e-mail to the media, containing a New York Sun article reporting a $200 contribution from William Ayers, a founding member of the 1970s group Weather Underground, to Obama in 2001.

In a separate e-mail, Singer forwarded an article from the Politico newspaper reporting on a 1995 event at a private home that brought Obama together with Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, another member of the radical group.
