Mondale Backs Vice President Cheney

Did you choose the title of this article? If so it is misleading.
----------------------------------
"The vice president has been very direct with other officers in pursuing what he thinks is the right course in national security and other areas," Mondale said. "What I think is wrong with that, is when others hear him talk like that they think the president is behind it. So it sort of chills the kind of vibrant discussion that we need for an open, balanced operation of the federal government.

"Carter would never have tolerated me doing that, and most presidents wouldn't tolerate, because it undermines the capacity of the president to hear it."

Doesn't sound to me that he backs Cheney.

Sincerely,
Mrs. xxxxxxxx

Here is his reply:

I do not know where you saw this headline, or who wrote it. It is not the headline that was included in the story the AP distributed. Our headline reflected the body of the story.

Jeff Barnard
AP Oregon

:wtf: does he mean he dosen't know where I got it from?!? I included the link. More Bullpucky!

hmmm many years ago
I wrote short fiction for a mag... they liked the work but I
did not bother writing the headline.

Now that was fiction, so who cares? This is not the way it is
suposed to happen in journalism. Take the reporter for what it
is worth and let people know, for him, what is happening

1. They scrubbed that headline shortly after it was posted here
IT was amended to say he backed Cheny's changing of the vice presidency.

the writers typically blame the editors for titles ... regardless, what it does is send forth disinformation which permeates quickly throughout the wires; and, enough damage (misinformation; first impressions) is done ... enough people will take the initial info and run with it, and works it way into talking points and people's heads, i.e., well, Mondale supports Cheney, blah blah blah ...

4. Mondale says Vice President Cheney changing role of office
That's the headline I see. Do a search for "Mondale" on Yahoo News and you'll see it about 5 different times. I've seen the same AP article on Yahoo News before with 2 or 3 different headlines attached to it depending on what publication is using it. Maybe AP gives news outlets the option to change the headline?

5. That almost proves that Yahoo headline writers are right wingers
Edited on Mon May-03-04 03:29 PM by Democat
The number of right wing Yahoo headlines that have been posted here that are misleading, biased, or outright Bush propaganda has been tremendous.

The response from this reporter means that we need to find out who is writing the headlines that end up on Yahoo and go after that person or his or her boss to stop them from spinning everything to help Bush.

Does anyone know who writes the Yahoo headlines?
