The genesis of a simple question.
All I wanted is an answer to the question: Is there a news conference scheduled for Tuesday in which Kerry is being dissed?

1. First, I posted part of the article on LBN because the event was to occur on Tuesday. I posted part of the article so that whoever was in the know about Kerry’s activities could see the factual claims that were being made, to wit:

“Kerry 'Unfit to be Commander-in-Chief,' Say Former Military Colleagues
(CNSNews.com) - Hundreds of former commanders and military colleagues of presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry are set to declare in a signed letter that he is "unfit to be commander-in-chief." They will do so at a press conference in Washington on Tuesday.
‘What is going to happen on Tuesday is an event that is really historical in dimension,’ John O'Neill, a Vietnam veteran who served in the Navy as a PCF (Patrol Craft Fast) boat commander, told CNSNews.com. The event, which is expected to draw about 25 of the letter-signers, is being organized by a newly formed group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.”

It seems to me that it is always wise to present an exact source when asking a question.

2. The moderator said that my post was inappropriate.

3. Ergo, I re-posted essentially the same question and quote on General Discussion: Campaign 2004. I got a bunch of posts which were less than enlightening. The moderator again said that my post was inappropriate. I tried to use the “Reply” button, but there was no “Reply” button.

4. Ergo, I re-posted essentially the same question and quote again on General Discussion: Campaign 2004. Again, the post was deemed inappropriate, and so the Reply button could not be used. Again, I got a bunch of posts which were less than enlightening.

5. Ergo, this post.

6. Apparently, no one on this site is in the know about Kerry’s activities on Tuesday, which is the question I originally asked.

7. The moderators on this site might want to review the differences among (1) factual claims; (2) opinion/value claims; (3) conceptual/definition claims.

8. This post will probably be deemed "inappropriate" because of the quote above even though this quotation is necessary to get a coherent answer to my question.

1. It was confusing. I hadn't seen this history either.
Apparently there is to be no news conference -- this is just a lie spread by the RW. Of course, if such a news conference transpires, DU will have egg on its face.

But it is clear that various DUers have had less-than-rosy experiences with the site whose URL you posted.

4. Right wing extremists
My experience with right wing extremists is that they attack with a plentiful lack of facts, or the facts are about irrelevancies or unimportant matters or the facts are about character assassination.

When it comes to the major issues, they will avoid these at all costs. One just has to be patient enough to keep on the point. When we compare Kerry's positions with Bush's positions, there is no contest. And this must be made clear.

3. From what little I can gather
this is just some more trumped up shit from the conservative and will get no press (there is a limit to which they can be whipped). So, I don't think it's a big deal, but a nice try on your part. Don't let it wet-blanket any future postings.

6. There may or may not be a news conference on this tomorrow.
But you can rest assured that if there is, it will be full of trumped up half-truths.

"What if we had a press conference and nobody came?" LOL

Of course, they will try to have a press conference. I don't know what coverage it will get. In this conservative media climate, probably some. The thing is, O'Neill never knew Kerry in combat, so how can he make judgements on his combat record? I hope a savvy reporter gets to ask that question.

On the whole, the gathering will come across as a cheap political stunt.
