1st Major Poll since Speech: Majority Doesn't Believe Obama Shares Wright's Views
I can't believe I'm quoting a FOX Poll but if they show this I believe others will follow suit!

Poll: Majority Doesn't Believe Obama Shares Wright's Views
By Eric Kleefeld - March 20, 2008, 5:57PM
A new poll from Fox News, the first major poll taken since Barack Obama's big speech on race relations, shows that the effect of the Jeremiah Wright flap might not be so bad after all.

By a 57%-24% margin, registered votes do not believe that Obama shares Wright's controversial views. The internals show only 17% of Democrats saying Obama shares Wright's ideas, along with 20% of independents and 36% of Republicans.

Fox also asked respondents whether they had doubts about Obama because of his association with Wright. The results: 35% Yes, 54% No, with the numbers standing at 26%-66% for Democrats, 27%-61% among independents, and 56%-33% with Republicans.

5. I think Fox new polls don't just poll viewers, unless this is an on-line poll
So don't get too blown away yet.

12. That would be William Ayers of the Weather Underground
Obama will be associated with terrorists that set of bombs when he was 10 years old

20. Oh my god. You are so blind!
Ayers was radical way back when bell bottom jeans were popular. If you can't remember bell bottom jeans, trust me, it was a long time ago!

Ayers now has a respectable job at the University of Illinois. He is a progressive. Like some of us claim to be here....

And Ayers is a member of an organization that does a lot of good for people...and Obama also has some association with that organization. By the way, when I researched it, I decided to put it on my donor list for the next year. It does a lot of good stuff. But hardly radical as in the weather underground!

So Obama has a second hand association with Ayers...not a direct one. So your guilt by association thingie is just that. But it is also an association with someone with a past but nowadays is quite respectably progressive.

You are using the tactics of Senator McCarthy from Wisconsin. I really pity you. In that you have sunk to such low standards just to support your candidate. Cult-like.

I'm trying to say that if they do associate Ayers with Obama it will be absurd. I think my post went a little over your head. Of course Obama was nothing to do with Ayers. Obama was 10 years old when they were active.

This poll is uplifting.

I might add that the Hillary supporters I know in real life are a lot less incendiary than some of what I see here. Lots of Hillary supporters are kool! So it is no big surpise to me the poll results.

29. Thanks for the full poll info. The Independent voters are key!
There is some really fascinating information in this poll.

Question #21 is quite telling:
Regardless of how you would vote, which Democratic candidate do you think has a better chance of beating John McCain in the general election in November - Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama?
..................Hillary.......Barack.......Both.........Neither.......Don't Know/Refused
Aggregate:....33%..........43%..........7%............7%...............10%
Democrats:....40%..........44%.........10%............--................5%
Republicans:..27%..........44%..........3%............15%..............10%
Independents:.26%..........43%..........9%.............7%..............15%

Notice the Independents...

13. But a majority of people in OH said HRC was campaigning more negatively
yet she still won. It worries me that people will, on one hand, admit they don't think
a candidate is "X" and yet they still buy into the negative campaigning and vote against
them ... ???

35. We have to get word of this to the super delegates and media. PA is a closed
primary but voters have until 30 days before the election to change their status. There are other states going forward however, that are open primary and opening to manipulation by Republicans who only interested in disrupting the outcome for their own benefit.

The film "American Blackout" dealt with this topic (against Cynthia McKinney) and Hardball just ran this story (finally) if you are interested:

Hardball: GOP for HRC

GOP voters creating mischief within the Democratic Party. David Shuster covers republican cross-over voting to influence the Democratic nominee since McCain secured the nomination. He cites Limbaugh's campaign to GOTV and "if they can stomach it, vote for a Clinton". In Mississippi, Republicans favored Hillary 3 to 1.

36. Regardless of the snarkiness of the question:

Quote:
Polling was conducted by telephone March 18-19, 2008, in the evenings. The total sample is 900 registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3%.
Democrats n=388, +/-5 percentage points; Republicans n=274, +/-6 percentage points.

(Not stated, but implied by the above, 238 Independent voters)
