3. what is wrong with the DLC?
Edited on Fri May-07-04 01:01 PM by WI_DEM
instead of trying to rub Dean's nose into it and upset his supporters they should be gracious enough to acknowldege the work he is doing for Kerry and many other Democrats. We don't need jackasses like Lieberman coming out saying, "Voters defeated Deanism". Party harmony goes both ways and Dean is working hard to elect Kerry and has been an articulate and forceful critic of the war and Bush.

I will also note that while many people in the party didn't think Dean was the right messenger they do acknowledge that Dean's message did wake the party up and that it also was a factor in why turnout in the early primaries and caucuses was higher.

5. Deanism is Dean's view of how our nation should be run. Its was defeated!
What Dean does for the party is great, but it doesn't mean Deanism wasn't defeated!

9. Deanism is a view of how our nation should be run
He articulated a view I think many people would take over that of Bushism.

--civil and human rights for all people.
--a foreign policy which articulates cooperation instead of confrontation.
--a balanced budget
--repealing the Bush tax cuts and investing in paying off the debt and in the people.
--opposing shams like "Leave no child behind" which is nothing but empty promises.
--opposing a war that was instigated by the administration through lies and deception.
--taking on the media and other powerful special interests in this country.

12. but what is DLCism?
is it the famous "triangularization" of issues as expoused by Dick Morris and utilized by Bill Clinton which tries to find common ground on issues that the GOP has held dear or is it standing up to the GOP on core Democratic values and issues?

6. What? Causation and Correlation?
I agree its great the Dems have been more willing to take on Bush, but correlation is not causation! A lot of our party has issues with Bush, so turnout is high. Dean and Gepphys negtive ad war helped bring voters out!
