CNN: 62% americans say they will be PROUD to have Obama as president.
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 10:03 PM by angie_love
Only 50% say the same of McCain.

67% of americans say Obama cares about people like them. McCain only 51%.

Just over 70 percent say Obama has a clear vision, 69 percent say Clinton does, and 59 percent say the same for McCain.

When it comes to bringing about change, a majority of Americans -- 56 percent -- say Sen. Barack Obama will be able to achieve that task, McCain only 39%

Survey respondents also ranked the Illinois senator highest -- 65 percent -- when asked who would work with both parties to get things done, compared with 56 percent who say McCain would and 52 percent who say Clinton would.

Obama is only weak on the issue of experience and strong/decisiveness.

I see some of the Hillarites are pushing that part of the poll and ignoring the other parts.

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/18/poll.quality/index.html

Edit for correction: 62 not 60 percent. Thanks AngelC

7. And 56% say only he can deliver CHANGE
And in xcase you missed it, but the country wants some freaking change.

You've got McCain who is promising us another 4 years of Bush.

Clinton who promises us a return to te 90s, which weren't so bad, but that isn't a forward thinkg, different kind of change.

Or yo've got Obama, who will tap into the mood of the country and win in a freakign landslide.

Just watch. It's gonna happen.

12. The "right experience" is why we are in Iraq, because those with the "right experience"
insured that it would happen without Congressional oversight

Give me better judgement over experience any day

The War Powers Act was already in place until they voted for the IWR, which effectively invalided the War Powers Act, what a move

The Viet Nam War is what brought us the War Powers Act, and you have an ex-POW from that mistake voting to over-ride the war powers act with the IWR

Too bad people don't learn from history, because experience with good judgement is the worst possible combination

19. Yup.
And Clinton can run on experience and McCain will laugh at her for that.

"Experience? Experience? You want to talk about experience..."

That's a winning plan, no doubt!

Thankfully for Americans, experience is not the only reason to elect a president, or we'd have never elected Bill Clinton in 1992 -- no, Paul Tsongas or Bob Kerrey would've been our nominee. Who knows, though, how they would have faired against the more experienced Bush. :eyes:

30. Time Magazine: Republicans Crossing Over to Vote Obama
To mess with the Dems...

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1723756,00.html

After looking over the election day numbers in detail, Masset concluded that half a million Republicans had voted in the Democratic primary, but that many had done it not to support Clinton, as urged to by Limbaugh, but for Obama. In Collin County, for example, 57% voted for Obama, but declined to cast a vote in down ballot races. Only 41,894 — a dropoff of 43% — voted in a competitive Democratic U.S. Senate primary race.

"Those 500,000 Republicans who voted in the Democratic party couldn't even bring themselves to vote for a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senator," Masset said. He believes some crossed over at the urging of talk radio, but more crossed over to vote for Obama, caught up in the excitement of a horse race; still, only detailed follow-up polling might provide more insight into the Republican crossover votes.

Maryland: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#MDDEM Obama won 59% of the Democratic vote.
Virginia: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#VADEM Obama won 62% of the Democratic vote.
Mississippi: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#MSDEM Obama won 67% of the Democratic vote.
Wisconsin: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#WIDEM Obama won 53% of the Democratic vote.
Louisiana: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#LADEM Obama won 57% of the Democratic vote.
Vermont (can't pull up the numbers, but he did).

Maine, Washington, Nebraska and Hawaii were caucuses, with no exit polls.

Since Super Tuesday, Clinton has won the Democratic vote in three contests: Texas, Rhode Island and Ohio. And in Texas, he faired far better than Clinton had in most every other state Obama won since Super Tuesday within the Democratic vote, winning 46%.

Because Time Magazine says the Republicans have come out in record numbers to vote Obama.

58. yes, that neophyte Abraham Lincoln was just a disaster
and Nixon was a brilliant success. When are some hilldroids flogging this going to get a brain? Experience is part of the equation, but only part of it. And Obama has 11 years in elected office. He certainly has more experience than JE does, and didn't here the hillbots bleating about his lack of experience. And hillypoo exaggerates her experience hugely. She has four more years in the Senate and a little teeny bit of her time as first lady counts. Most of it doesn't. Like her silly little lie about landing in Bosnia under fire, one really can't believe her Walter Mitty crap.

36. This makes me feel a LOT better after speaking with my mom tonight.
She is a Faux-watcher and would not have voted for either Hillary or Obama, but she is really pissed right now about the whole "racist preacher" thing and mad that Obama didn't leave the church over it. She says MAYbe he is an okay guy but he's too liberal for her and she doesn't think he has the guts to run the country after the whole "pastorgate" baloney. That was actually the first time I heard anyone in the "real world" say anything like that. I didn't push her too hard because she wasn't in a state to listen much and I knew if I argued too much or too long she'd just firm up her position and NEVER warm up at all.

It was disappointing to say the least and kind of brought down my day, which had started off great after I learned about Richardson this morning. I had initially started the conversation all happy and excited to tell her about our governor endorsing Obama, but her comments totally put the kibosh on that. Oh well. We've got a long way to go, lots of work to do, and time to do it if we can get this thing wrapped up before too long.

myth from years ago. The only good thing is that they don't watch NEARLY as much news as they used to. It used to be all FAUX, all the time. Now they mostly watch sports or read. I think they got sick of all the nastiness, ironically enough. They just didn't realize the neocon sources of it. It's sad, but I'd really rather have them not watch any news than that shameful garbage.

As far as finding a refuge here, that is! NONE of my family are liberal or possibly even Democrats, except me. I live in a blood-red county and I'm new to this little town, where Bush/Cheney bumper stickers persist, along with classics like, "A Businessman Voting Democrat is like a Chicken Voting for Colonel Sanders" and the "Truth" fish eating up Darwin.

51. I would be so proud to have him as my president
I would be proud because I honestly believe that he's a genuinely good person, which is so rare in politicians these days. I'd be proud because it would mean that this country had overcome its history of prejudice to the point where we were ready to elect an African American president. And I'd be proud because of the message it would send to the world. When I went to London during the summer of 2006, I remember feeling embarrassed about George Bush. With Barack Obama as president I'd feel the opposite. I just hope this country is enlightened enough not to pass up this chance.
