Apparently There Are African Americans for Hillary - Here's What One Says
Overall however, I think Hillary Clinton's record trounces Barack Obama's on foreign policy issues, on the issue of universal health care, labor, the economy and education.

To her credit, Hillary has been more pro-Affirmative Action than her husband Bill Clinton. Hillary Clinton has ALWAYS been a big supporter of HBCU's (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and she has spoken about how important HBCU's are to America.

Although I like Hillary because she is a fighter, a fighter for poor and middle-class Americans, my vote for her is not a complete wrap. I am still open to other candidates - all candidates.

Let's vote on the issues. If you like Obama because he best represents the issues to you, then vote for him. But giving away your vote to a candidate just because of skin color or identity is unsophisticated, in my opinion. That's not what so many of our ancestors died for.

I reject the notion by some African-Americans/blacks that Bill and Hillary Clinton can't identify (ie. embrace, understand, support or empathize) with black people or issues important to black people because they are white. To me, such an assertion is ludicrous.

There weren't too many of us saying that in the 90's, when blacks saw so many social and economic gains.

I was sitting in the library at school and this gay black guy a few tables away starts ranting about how inexperienced Obama is and how Hillary was the only way.

I'm from a predominantly black area, but I've met a few blacks who support Hillary, including a few family members. After South Carolina, and what went down as perceived racism (personally, i think Hillary's MLK comments were an honest mistake that was taken out of context) my family's support for her wavered and by the time February 12th rolled around they were full blown Obama supporters.

5. Oh yeah, there are many
There are many, many black people backing Hillary. They just don't hang out on DU!

Here is a very good writer at the Huffington Post who happens to be a black man named Earl Hutchinson. Check this out

He apparently backs Hillary.

There are also 34 generals backing Hillary, and at least two of them are black. Check that out on Youtube or you can see it here: http://www.rebelcentral.net/blog

6. Define "many". Obama is trouncing her in the African-American vote, she barely gets 10%.

13. Recent polling suggests Obama's 85-90% support among blacks may be slipping
In one PA poll he coughs up 27% black support to Clinton. That would be excellent for an ordinary politician but Obama is unusual, compared to other past Democratic front-runners, in that he loses every racial group but his own so he has to maintain that 85-90% margin.

She was wrong on the biggest foreign policy decision of her career.

Ok. I gave you two big things he did. What has Obama done?

21. If that's the best you can do, I'd suggest you pack it in.
There were pro-civil rights justices on the SCOTUS back in the late 50's and 60's. Hell, even Nixon was responsible for affirmative action. Moreover, it's absolutely sad that it took Republicans to put Black people in key cabinet positions. You seem to be lacking on your historical knowledge. Please fix that.

I'll let you know what Obama does after he's sworn in.

16. I don't get this post at all.
Why wouldn't there be African American people who support Clinton? Are they violating some sort of political correctness law by doing so? Lots of caucasians support Obama . . . women, too. Is that allowed?

A person should be able to support whatever candidate they want based on the issues without fear of being called traitor, cult member or anything else.

20. One issue is
If Obama had not made it thus far and had dropped out - many AA's would have continued to support Clinton as a good available option. Some enthusiastically. Now they do - many - prefer another candidate. No problem. But - the sad thing is that the former regard has turned to active hatred in some cases. And that is a great shame.
Whatever - I guess. 'tis the way we humans are.

But it is not attractive.

22. HRC has some rabid black supporters... even a couple on this site!
I thought one DUer who claims to be a journalist was a troll, but one day I tuned into black talk radio and there were a couple of very angry HRC supporters who said they would SIT OUT the election if Obama is the nominee. SIT OUT!

So, yes, they're out there. Then again, I know a couple not so rabid ones who just don't know much about Obama and are going with Clinton out of familiarity.
