Obama Loses Big to McCain in Rasmussen Poll; Clinton Not So Much

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows ongoing volatility in the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Nationally, Hillary Clinton now holds a very slight advantage over Barack Obama, 46% to 44%. Before the story broke about his former Pastor, Obama led Clinton by eight percentage points (see recent daily results). While the national polls remain close, Rasmussen Markets data gives Obama a 79.5 % chance to win the Democratic nomination while expectations for a Clinton victory are at 20.3 %.

Looking ahead to the General Election in November, John McCain continues to lead both potential Democratic opponents. McCain leads Barack Obama 49% to 41% and Hillary Clinton 49% to 43% (see recent daily results).

He apparently has a glass jaw and has a long way to go in the negative category. How many points will he lose by the convention? Oh well. The superdelegates will know what to do if Obama is down 10 points by the convention while Clinton is tied or slightly ahead of McCain.

Why didn't those numbers fluctuate over the past year? Surely you remember Obama used to consistently do better than Clinton against the rethugs.

He's got savings and loan scandals, lobbyist ties up the ass, cancer, a dipster wife who is his second who is a wingnut from hell who stole from kids to get drugs, no grasp of details on anything remotely related to the economy, a jones for war that puts caligula to shame, miles of videos showing him warmongering and other fuck ups, Joe Lieberman ... shall I continue?

His party is in disarray, the RNC has had millions stolen and can't raise dick from anyone and he practically sleeps with Bush.

Obama will blow him off the map in the first debate.

I could beat McCain. Hillary loves him too much to kick him in the nuts, he's such a patriotic and talented he-man don't you know.

Obama will destroy him. Count on it. McCain can't even get the bad guys right. He has 11Million$. Period.

Hillary has been relatively discrete(barring the McCain endorsement), but her campaign more than made up for that with their vicious attacks. And Obama has not yet even begun targeting McCain, so this poll is way too premature. The only number that really reflects current concerns is the one about winning the nomination.

It's a big negative swing. It may continue as people know more about Obama. It will be interesting to see what happens to Clinton.

Think they don't want Obama as the nominee? Uh, yup.

They are VERY VERY reliable..

and he is definitely a conservative Republican who does commentary for Fox News and his polls regularly skew Republican.

There have been polls of the pollsters and Gallup ranks near the top every time. Rasmussen is near the bottom with Zogby.

Never trust Zogby who won't reveal his methodology and missed California by a mile.

I care enough about the Democratic party to call for Hillary Clinton to end her vain and hopeless campaign, and for other Democrats to unite behind our better remaining candidate rather than repeating the same crap the corporate shills are screaming non-stop.

Luckily the poll is irrelevant since we haven't yet begun to campaign against McCain. I don't think his 100 year war and lack of economic knowledge will get him far.

What do you think will damage him in the campaign to the extent that 24-7 Rev. Wright commercials will do to Obama?

There is Keating 5, drug and theft prone wife and flip flops on torture and taxes. I don't think those will cost him much among the Republicans.

Both candidates. Trying to make a thing out of two percentage points within the margin of error is just silly.

The real issue is that this protracted nomination process continues to hurt the democratic party and weaken BOTH CANDIDATES standing for the general.

We need a nominee and we need one RIGHT NOW.
