Why isn't Kerry making the news?
In today's New York Times there wasn't a single article about John Kerry. There were many articles about Bush and prisoner abuse and Iraq but nothing from or about the Kerry campaign. Is this a mistake or is the Kerry campaign intentionally staying out of the way? I think Kerry should be using this mess to present himself as a LEADER. As a mature, sober, responsive and responsible LEADER who is the only one who can creditably change America's direction.

6. Nope, it's a winner

Not everyone is looking for a leader. Hitler was a leader, and BUsh* *IS* a leader.

I've had enough of leaders. I know what I want, and I certainly don't need a politician to tell me what I should want.

Your mileage may vary

9. Why?
Is Kerry going to all of a sudden change? When will this transformation begin? Why does he have to wait? Why can't he show leadership abilities now? WTF is he waiting on?

I have been following him and his record very closely since October 2002. It was not been pretty, nor has it been inspiring.

He has not been fullfilling his Senate responsibilities, so that should give him plenty of time and energy to concentrate on showing America how and why he would make a great president.

But, alas, he is not.

15. Maybe Kerry is a lot smarter than you?
What the hell do I mean "maybe"?

You say that your purpose on this board is to shill for "progressive" Dem candidates, but you seem to never pass up an opportunity to bash the presumptive nominee. Hmmm...

7. I hope so
I'd like to think that there is a strategy but I really wish he was he was more visible. I'd like to see him publicly working the Iraq problem and putting out a REAL plan to fix it that would be reported as such.

11. Yup
Kerry's best bet is to stay out of the media's eye. let them go after Bush, and then Kerry can kick Bush while he is down. Given the record of this administration, does anyone out there beleive that there are not going to be MORE revelations about what the Bush people knew and didnt do before 9/11, what they knew about WMD's in Iraq for real, how far up the chain of command the knowledge of abuse of Iraqi prisoners went. Just let the Bush administration build the case against itself and then Kerry can come in and easily make the case to get rid of the Bush administration. not now, when the Bush administration can counter attacks on their performance, but right at the end when there is little time, and not enough to divert attention by attacking something about Kerry's record.

14. Health Care
I didn't read the Times today, but his Health Care plan has been all over CNN today. At first it seemed a strange sharp turn in the midst of all the Iraq torture coverage, but it actually helped to highlight Kerry because of the contrast. :)
