I am sick of the way some people in America think they have the right to go and tear down people, like Rev. Wright, who speak the truth by questioning their patriotism or right to say what they believe.

Editted to add: I never did have a bad opinion of him, although I did wish he hadn't said "GD America" for strategic reasons. But after all this time, for people to still be dragging him down is really ticking me off.

Was LBJ sick? Did this happen in Texas or another state. Was Wright a medic? This is a snapshot of history. I'd like to know more about this picture.

From the best I can tell, President Johnson was hospitalized in 1966, and Rev. Wright was a cardiac technician who was caring for him.

LBJ was very child-like in a lot of ways. Or at least, he pretended to be child-like.

i do not want 4 more years of lies and liars, but it seems there are plenty who have not as yet. we end up with people like bush because people fall for this bs. and then in a year or so they will (hopefully at least) see what they have done. Didn't know Wright was a HM3 in the Navy.

My Dad was a HM2 and served on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War.

I knew a lot of Hospital Corpsman while I was in the Navy too.

Most were pretty good guys. I knew one that was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan, but I didn't hold that against him. ;-)

Good for HM3 Jeremiah Wright.

I was an infantryman, and infantrymen usually hate all of the other specialties except for sappers, medics, and nurses

Wright has spent his whole life serving his country and community. It was unreal to see the media frenzy for his outspoken sermons.

They dress like Marines and live and work alongside them, they are called "Doc" and are "honorary Marines." The Navy also does a great deal of the paperwork for the Marine Corps, such as pay. When a Marine wins a medal he or she is cited for acting in the "highest standards of the Marine Corps and the Naval Service."

Marine Corps officers can come out of any of the service academies or OCS/ROTC. Generally, from Annapolis instead of West Point.

The Commandant of the USMC answers to the Secretary of the Navy.

Just because we need change does not mean O. is the change we need. It is kind of like the argument about the existence of god. No matter how much we may need one, that need has no bearing on god's existence. Jesus Christ, Ron Paul would have been "change" but I doubt anyone here (least of all me) want that kind of change. And comparing Bill's largely irrelevant self-serving lies about his personal life with Bush's criminality is a gross distortion.

Wright and people like him are charlatans of the worst kind. They take desperate people, take advantage of their anger and fleece them of their money and free will. He claims to be a prophet (funny how none of his prophecies precede disasters) and is no better than Pat Robertson who blamed Katrina on tolerance of gay people. Even if Wright and O. had never heard of each other, Wright would still be an asshole and O would still be an angry, egomaniac with nothing but false promises to offer. The fact that up until a couple weeks ago O was a faithful member of Wright's flock and went so far as to rationalize Wright's hate-mongering tactics in a national speech tells me that O's judgment and even his good will is highly suspect.

HC did not say she was being shot at, only that it was audible. Besides, even if she exagerates immaterial things like that, so what? It's not like she lied to the whole country in order to start a war.
