I basically posted the same thing this morning, yeah, but I think this thread title will get more attention.

If you are so upset by what happens here that you are participating in the aforementioned tactics, you should know that there are other things out there that you could be doing for your candidate. The fighting here is pretty insubstantial in changing the course of the primary; there's really no need to participate in it very much. Come here to get news and editorials, but don't get sucked into the silly stuff. Just use it as a reminder to spend your time more wisely than that.

13. Is "the red pen" a reference to /The Autobiography of Malcolm X/?
There's a part in it where he talks about getting drafted for World War II, and he shows up to the draft office pretending to be crazy so they won't take him. He talks about how the psychologist that interviewed him put down his black pen and picked up a red pen after he said something particularly outrageous. I use that technique now when I'm interviewing candidates for jobs at my company when I think they're lying to give them a subtle warning that they really shouldn't do that.

14. I don't know about any secret meetings and the ignore function makes the forum easier to read...
But I agree with the rest of your post. Posts on DU aren't going to make a whit of difference when it comes to the actual voting in elections.

Yes, there is much to do outside of DU.

26. I felt dirty after I saw it.
There are people I like on it. It's a weird event.

It just seems people could figure out who to ignore on their on. But the purpose of the list goes beyond the ignore function. Weird.

I got here late in the game for list-gate, but I was able to piece together what happened, and I did, indeed see this list posted on a thread, and I feel worse for it. I'm quite fond of some of the people on that "list", and it made me feel yucky. :-( There are people here that I wholeheartedly disagree with, people who have insulted my intelligence and my critical thinking skills, but I'm not for a mass ignore. I originally jumped into the "let it sink" thread as a self discipline to not participate in flame fests, not as a tactic to silence anyone. This just makes me really sad that it's come to this. :-(
