There is something strange about Hillary's "misstatement"
I have disagreed with her about many things and am not a supporter, but I don't think she is stupid. Why would she lie in front of TV cameras about something that could so easily be checked?

Also, I heard and saw her tell this story for the first time today on Keith, and she did not have the mannerisms of someone lying. She seemed to really believe what she was saying. She even laughed and smiled as if to suggest that it wasn't that big of a deal.

I just can't think of an explanation for this "misstatement." Nothing makes sense to me.

10. If Hillary
is having delusional daydreams...we need to know it now.

A sane person doesn't all of a sudden remember that a warm greeting with flowers and a child was ducking and running to a safe convoy.

It just doesn't happen.

No....it doesn't.

16. you have never had a memory lapse, or remembered something differently than actuality.
Just off a little.

When I went to an Elton John concert with my family, there were gunshots. My sister said she wasn't going to take cover unless her fiance did.

I have never let her live it down. Now my husband who was there at the time, says it was a car backfiring and and remembers it completely different. Of course, I am the one who is correct and corrorborate with my other family members who were there.

The mind is a tricky thing sometimes, especially with memories.

67. she never wrote about , mentioned it, referred to it until now
All these years she believed she was shot at and she doesn't mention it until now?

Look, I don't think its that big a deal. She got caught embellishing -- she's not the first pol to do it and she won't be the last. It was incredibly stupid of her since she could've made a point by simply discussing how she went to Bosnia and saw first hand what was going on there. Instead, she had to make it into something more. It was stupid, but the extent to which folks are tying themselves in knots to avoid admitting she did something stupid -- but not disqualifying -- is quite ludicrous.

BTW, I'm an Obama supporter (who will support the Dem nominee whomever he/she is)

63. Hillary's lies just keep mounting
I wouldn't suggest that she try to pass off her "guided imagery conversations" with Eleanor Roosevelt and Gandhi as something out of the vast right wing conspiracy. She's taken that hog to the trough one too many times. Jean Houston was her "spiritual advisor"
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Houston) and the suggestion that she speak to the dead received attention first from Bob Woodward.

The likes of that hadn't been seen in the White House since Nancy Reagan consulted astrologers to plan Reagan's schedule.
But I'm not saying Eleanor didn't talk back to her. It's just something that rubs some people the wrong way.

If this lapse of memory is her excuse, she has bigger problems than the primaries, IMO.

I dont believe she considered the consequences, its just that making her role in past events sound more important than they really were just got the better of her and she made a comment that was easily verifiable as a lie.

Sinbad did not agree with HRC, he disagreed. Every single person on that trip who has spoken about this has confirmed that what HRC claims happened, did not happen. The only ones who can't seem to face the truth are posters like you. HRC screwed up. It shouldn't be the end of her campaign or the end of the world. She should admit what is obvious -- she embellished because it made for a more compelling narrative. Politicians do it all the time. Hell, Reagan did it regularly. Does it make it right? No. Does it make it forgivable? Yes, but only if she'll acknowledge what she did.

This is yet another way in which HRC is just like Bush Jr--they both blatantly lie because they think they have the MSM so cowed that they won't bring it up or point it out.

If HRC was that nasty to Richardson when he made The Call, you can just imagine how she is to reporters who don't do as they are told.

Bullshit. This was an outright lie that she was aware of up front. No speech writer would put something like that in a speech and surprise her with it. Not and keep their job. But perhaps that will be her next attempt at getting out of this. Lie again and blame someone else. Have them quit.

She needs to go back to the Senate and start pushing the things she's been talking about on the trail. Force Bush to do what the people want for a change. Call McSame what he is and stop the false praise of him.

In other words, care more about her country and party than herself. Doubt she will though. Sad.

68. actually this is a helluva good question

The other thing I noticed is that she looks so tired. Completely different from New Hampshire.

Could it be that she is suffering some serious fatigue - these guys are going 20 hours a day.

72. There is nothing strange about it. She ran it up the flagpole to see who'd salute.
No one saluted, so she changed her tune.

TYPICAL CLINTON.

76. I think she is getting tired.....and
besides, in her rebuttal, she had a coherant reply until near the end and then she used the terms, you know....three times in a row almost. You usually do that when you are trying to make something up and need time to think in between thoughts...you know......????

78. I think she was just really trying to sell it ...
... assuming it wouldn't be questioned. She probably thought the media was still cowed by her earlier harassment of them, and so wouldn't aggressively fact check her.

Oopsy.

All part of her fabricating her so-called "experience," and toy soldiering. (see: W flight suit)

79. Even in the cold light of morning
and after reading your thoughtful replies, I still don't get it. She would just lie in front of television cameras and journalists with no thought for the consequences?
