Breaking: HRC Camp admits making Wright an issue. Says Wright = David Duke & that Obama worships him
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 08:42 PM by mckeown1128
Wow... what a coincidence that on the same day Hillary sent the Wright story into another news cycle.. with her "response to a question" (that she happened to have foreseen ahead of time enough to write her response down before hand) One of her top advisers goes off on this ridiculous rant.

The comments from O'Dowd -- who's long been close to both Clintons, having served as a key adviser on Irish affairs to Bill Clinton and hosting a big fundraiser for Hillary last year -- go farther on Wright than Hillary and her supporters have thus far.

O'Dowd said that the Wright comments raised "a legitimate question" and observed that "it's interesting that Barack Obama sat in the pews while all this was going on, and never once in any of his books or anything else" did he denounce Wright, adding: "He worshipped this man."

O'Dowd also compared Wright to Duke and inadvertently said that the Hillary campaign is actively making an issue of the Wright controversy, something the campaign (Hillary's comments today notwithstanding) has been careful to avoid doing. O'Dowd said:

"I think the issue that the Clinton campaign has seized on is that Barack Obama, you know, never once raised his voice to his pastor and said, `I think your language is quite extreme here, and I think you language is probably wrong.' Because let's turn this around. If this was David Duke and he was preaching on behalf of, and Hillary Clinton was in the pew, there would be outrage about this. And there can't be this double standard. Barack Obama has used race where it suited him, but when it doesn't suit him he backs away from it."

I suggest the audio at the link: (there is more said)

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/03/hillary_finance_committee_memb.php

Let's look at what I highlighted for a minute:

First, he lies and says that Obama sat in the pews during these statements (with NO proof)
second, he says Obama worshiped his paster (I thought Obama went to church worship god)
third, he compares Wright to Duke (Bull shit... Wright never said anything on the level of David Duke)
fourth, He let's slip that Hillary is trying to make this an issue
and lastly, how would he know what Obama has said privately to his paster.

On Edit: I plead for rec's on this... Everyone should see these disgusting tactics.

Obama defended Biden against the media tha attacked him. and "pimp" and "bitch" are words that can be used against males too. One of my crudder friends calls me a "bitch" all the time.. and I am a guy...

Don't get me wrong... I would never say "pimp Chelsea out"... but I don't see it as this huge sexist attack. Sexism is real... and serious... but the pimp comments could have been said about anyone male or female.

34. 1. It was an MSNBC reporter who used the phrase "pimp Chelsea out," not an Obama supporter.
2. Point me in the direction - with a working link - to a reputable news source that reports that anyone associated with the Obama campaign, or even any prominent Obama supporter, has ever called HRC a "bitch." I'm betting you can't.

You really should try harder to shake hands with the truth in your posts.

There are many African Americans that have and will vote for HC.
Are you suggesting that they should not support her?
I certainly am not.

I am not worried about Sen. Obama's grandmother. As he has stated she loves him dearly and he feels the same way about her.

It is an insult to his grand mother for you to even say such a thing.

He spoke eloquently about his grandmother and millions of people understood perfectly what his message was.

Visit the youtube site. His speech is the most listened to on record.
His grandmother adores him.

The Wright controversy should be done and now Maureen and Hillary have to bring it up again.

I wonder if they do a poll now how many black Americans are still supporting her?

How many military folks who are just now finding out that Wright is a Jar Head and they have listened to the entire sermon have turned their back on her?

Is this any way to run a campaign?

Does she really think that if she were to pull this out that she could garner the support of all of the supporters who she has insulted?

And I say again I voted for her in the WA caucus and I am about done with her. I keep trying to give her the benefeit of the doubt but dammit she keeps making blunder after blunder.

When the republicans come at him hard in the GE... he can't call it what it is which is race baiting... because they will be able to say that "even Hillary had a problem with it"... thus crippling his response in the GE to the swift boating.

that made sense..the only demographic is based on internet usage. Those sermons have been viewed umpteen times, as they will continue to be. Those people who care to know what the brouhaha is all about, will see years of Sermons and will be able to judge on the totality rather than excerpts of the most inflammatory language that the 'media' could find. I can't imagine why anyone would think this shit was going to fly again in November, after they've beat the shit out of the guy for two weeks straight. There are way too many people pissed off about this shit. They keep playing with fire they will get burned.

Guess what, the BUCK will stop at her desk...She will have to make decision, and stand by them...or she can be like Junior, it's everyone else's fault. I have kids and grandkids, I will not trust their future on a LYING PRESIDENT.

As for Wright, that has been totally debunked, Wright has had three Presidential commendations, 30 yrs as Pastor, working within his community. Led his church in outreach programs. Written books, gave hundreds of hours of Sermons. Have you listened to any of them?

You have nothing to stand on, nor does Hillary the Liar.

53. Distraction mode
Defend your liar.

There is no proof Obama has lied. But go ahead, point fingers away from the fiasco Hillary has gotten herself into. It's on video tape. She didn't just mix up once, she told the same WAR STORY on four different occasions, she was reading it from a prepared text.

Didnt it once cross her fuzzy mind, "Gee I dont remember it happening this way" before she read it aloud? Didnt she think that thousands of people would scour the internet to look for validation to her "RAMBO" story?

But go ahead, try to distract, you have nothing to stand on. I bet there are thousands of people scouring the internet looking for a picture of Obama sitting in a pew while Wright is saying "GOD DAMN AMERICA" and Obama nodding his head like a bobblehead. But that would be damned difficult, because Obama was thousands of miles away in MIAMI.

Go ahead defend your liar.

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks this Wright thing is a big issue has no understanding of the black church in America, and is woefully ignorant on who Rev. Wright really is.

Sure he said some inflamitory things as part of larger sermons, but on the whole, even these seromons if watched in their complete form, aren't all that controversial.

Sorry to blow up, but I'm really ticked that this has become such an issue in the MSM. It has really tarnished my view of my own Country.

38. Wright IS an issue
And it's an issue that the GOP is going to be merciless about in the months leading up to November if Senator Obama is the nominee. I found the Pastors words disturbing though I can understand the context of their delivery. Not everyone will understand that context and many will find the Pastor used words and promoted ideas that make them uncomfortable. It most certainly is an issue with Senator Obama and one that the Clinton team is not really pushing as hard as could be. The GOP will be far worse.

50. Better he deal with it now
If he's not effective in countering this very real issue during the Primary season against Senator Clinton then what does that say about his chances of countering it in the months leading up to the General Election. She is actually helping him to run a better campaign for President by forcing this issue into the front pages now so that by November it really isn't an issue any longer. And if he can't negate the impact of this issue effectively then he needs to re-evaluate his campaign and strategy in a bid for the Presidency.

52. I think by the time the GE rolls around, Americans will have a much better understanding of Wright
and those most likely to be offended by his "anti-American" comments will be the Evangelicals, and they'll understand fiery sermons.

It won't mean much come November, though I agree, the GOP will try to run with it.

41. But when Olbermann plays the David Duke card, you play dumb
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 09:02 PM by democratmejicano
Because he's pro-Obama.

Olberman: "Ferraro sounds like David Duke".

47. He was good enough to sit with at breakfast
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 09:11 PM by merh

And as the first lady, she did get to say who sat at her table, a place of honor.

You know, that breakfast where Bill "With tearing eyes and a trembling voice, President Clinton succeeded yesterday in convincing a room full of religious leaders that he was genuinely sorry about his affair with Monica S. Lewinsky and embarrassed about the way he handled it."

61. Thanks Hillary, for representing me well
across the world. I have Irish friends and they will remain my friends. I will always think few things are as beautiful as those rolling green hills.

But you lady, good lord. You're on Kamikaze auto-pilot. You've just...stopped...thinking altogether.

You, an American woman, sending an Irish man to speak to a woman in Ireland, who believes I am from "a society where black people are still at the bottom of the pile"

To do what? To correct her view of me? No. Not you.

YOU, take, what should be a family fight (an american political primary) and take our family's dirty laundry (americans dealing with racism), outside of our house and spread it with EXTRA crap on top. So that you can achieve what? What???!!!

O'Dowd uses terms like "Black racist and white racist. He has Wright now calling Obama a nigger. Are you so desperately angry that instead of red, you only see black and white?

What kind of Presidential, representation and judgment are you trying to show now? You can't possible think you can still win, do you? So what? What's left? You'll try to tear down Obama, the Democratic Party, Blacks in America, all Americans and our international relationships/perceptions.

"If I go down, you're all going down" Is that it? Is that one of your solutions? Absolute lunacy.

But, you know what. Go for it babe. Keep piling it on. Shine your best light on it...so everyone can plainly see and be able to STEP THE FUCK AROUND IT, LIKE THEY'VE BEEN DOING!

62. O'Dowd: "He worshipped this man."
Ummm... Not sure what religion O'Dowd follows, but he's certainly demonstrating an ignorance of Christianity.

63. Like David Duke would ever "preach on behalf of" Hillary Clinton.
The comparison is so absurd it's not even worth discussing.

69. Is O'Dowd an active campaign spokesperson?
If not, then we should wait and see what Clinton does.

If Clinton doesn't denounce the comments, then we can condemn her for failing to denounce them.

If O'Dowd is an official campaign representative and was speaking as such, then this is more disgusting than we could have previously expected.
