A look into Hillary Clinton... her political ambition, the realization of her destiny
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 10:46 PM by Levgreee

Here is young Hillary, a very intelligent young lady, who feels assured that, no matter what happens, it is certain that with hard work she has the potential to go somewhere in the world... to earn respect, to make real changes, and also to make money, of course.

She has been raised in our Western Culture, that insists to our children that they are uniquely special and capable of changing the world in profound ways, and they should take this capability as inherent inside of them...
Instead of waiting patiently for that capability to actually be affirmed, when they DO accomplish things.

She does do very well, graduating from Yale.
She does some exceptional things, gaining respect from her peers during her time at college... including her commencement speech at Wellesley, which was one of the things that gave her a taste of what she really desired... the attention of other people, their recognition for the person she truly is... capable, intelligent, and benevolent.

"she became the first student in Wellesley College history to deliver their commencement address.<25> Her speech received a standing ovation lasting seven minutes.<22><28><29> She was featured in an article published in Life magazine, due to the response to a part of her speech that criticized Senator Edward Brooke, who had spoken before her at the commencement;<8> she also appeared on Irv Kupcinet's nationally-syndicated television talk show as well as in Illinois and New England newspapers.

She becomes a Lawyer, and reaches a position of significance on the Wal-Mart board, unheard of for women thus far.

She takes these things as reaffirmations of her destiny to accomplish great things... YET, it is not enough... this is not where she wants to be yet. This is just a stepping stone, yet her quick rise to positions this powerful gave indication that she indeed has special capabilities. Why hadn't she already started to give a special gift to the world? Well, it was because she was not truly comfortable where she was, she knew she had to be working in a higher, more important position, where she could give out the larger gift that she was capable of giving.

INDEED, she arrives at the White House! The center of power for the nation, perhaps the most important center of power in the world!

Now that Hillary is where she needs to be, she can carry out the changes she wants. She and Bill got here through hard work... and both of them were now going to fulfill their destinies of public service, to give their gifts and get their recognition.

She works very hard in the White House; she has a very full schedule. She visits many dozens of nations, talking to people all around the world, comforting them, helping them. She attends a multitude of policy discussion. she is starting to give her gift and to get her recognition. She is a co-president, helping Bill Clinton in carrying out the most important policy forming actions in the nation. Everything is working out as it should. She is fulfilling her destiny.

She tries to carry out her Health Care reform. Unfortunately it fails, but not because of her lack of capability. It was because of circumstances, and plotting by people who wanted to see it fail. Sure, she made some mistakes perhaps, but there were relatively minor, and from this, she will grow smarter and become closer to giving her gift to the world.

Her time in the White House ends. She is now a wise women, knowing what it takes to get work done, how hard it is to make changes... but still knows she is capable of doing so.
She has other people write her Bibliography with her.

Although she still does most of the "essential" parts, provides the substance and ideas needed for the book, so she feels okay with crediting the book only to herself... it is a best-seller, it exposes to the world Hillary's inner wisdom and gift-giving ability, and is another step in affirming her destiny.

She become a senator, and continues to go about making significant changes for the people of New York, the nation, and the world.

It is not enough, though. The changes she can, and has to make, cannot be made from her Senatorial position. She needs to be back in the White House. She has the judgment, the experience, the vision to change the world, but she needs to be given the power to do so first!

Hillary's perception of herself in her aging years is being pressured to change. Her limits as a person of power, the limits of her destiny, are starting to set in more. But, she still has faith that she is a special person, uniquely capable. It wasn't her lack of ability that held her back until the age of 65, she simply made the mistake of not working hard enough.

Yes, it is about working hard. If she works hard enough, she can fulfill her destiny. That is all she did wrong. She hasn't been mistaken this whole time about her limitations, and the gift she can give to the world. All she has done over these 35 years, is a testament to that lack of limitations.. Not everyone may understand her destiny that as they do not know the details of those years as she does, but she does indeed possess this destiny.

Her frustration shows in New Hampshire.

"Some people think elections are a game: who's up or who's down," Clinton said, her voice breaking and tears welling. "It's about our country. It's about our kids' future. It's about all of us together. Some of us put ourselves out there and do this against some difficult odds."

Some of us are right and some of us are wrong. Some of us are ready and some of us are not. Some us know what we will do on day one and some of us haven't thought it through enough," she said.
"I just believe…" She had to pause again, then went on. "…so strongly in who we are as a nation.

She reveals some, what her destiny is... her capability of helping the country, of bettering childrens' futures, and to be a beacon of light in the world, to women especially. Obama, on the other hand, is not capable of doing what she can do. People just don't understand her 35 years, what she has gone through and the wisdom she has gained, her unique capabilities and gifts.

Now, with Obama having an insurmountable lead, things are coming to a close. Hillary is wondering, just as with the Health Care reform failure "What is happening? Why am I not getting to the position that I deserve? The position where I can give my gift, and get my recognition?"

It's do or die now. She already knows she is the right person for the presidency. She understands her destiny, her abilities. It is unfortunate that she cannot relate her unique abilities that she intimately aware of, having lived every experience in her 35 years which reaffirms them...

Now, she must win at all costs. She cannot relate her destiny and abilities to other people in concrete terms, so she simply has to become the president, no matter what. At that point, she will give her gift to the world... and everyone will see in her, what she already sees in herself. Once she gets there everyone will realize she was right. She will be reaffirmed, once again.

But, she just has to get there.

It seems now that she won't, and she is distraught over the mistake people are making in not letting her carry out her destiny. Perhaps it was just bad luck again, or the conspiring of those with ill-will for her. Or perhaps, she is realizing, that she does have limits.

Her destiny is not reality... her abilities are not reality. She is not a super-woman. For her, sometimes working hard simply isn't enough. Perhaps she expects the impossible from herself. Perhaps she is just still a normal, limited human being... more the idealistic young girl who needs to find her niche in life, and get a bit of recognition and gratitude from others, instead of the hero and savior for millions.

Which one is she?

It's a very compassionate piece. Not that a big, burly, hot macho sexist like me wants to say it.

It is a good job.

Edit: to add "hot"

11. Nice post!
I'm furious with some of the things she's done, especially recently. But I can't even begin to imagine the heartbreak of thinking you were going to be the first women president and watching it start to slip away. :(

20. Destiny
The thing with destiny is that you never really can know it in advance. It is only in looking backwards at what has been achieved that one can recognize destiny. To label something that may or may not happen in the future as "desity" is a fallacy, because what you are really looking ahead to is more correctly labeled an "aspiration" or a "dream".

Perhaps it is Hillary's destiny to be president of the United States. Perhaps not. Neither she nor we know that yet.

Perhaps her destiny is to be the first viable woman candidate for the office of the President of the United States.

Either way, she has opened doors and led the way for other women yet to come, and that in itself is a tremendous accomplishment and a destiny to be proud of.

To really appreciate the striped pants, you have to see them in full:

I remember when the style was popular, and they crack me up!

Sorry to go a little off-track, but this is a great, well put together post.

22. Excellent analysis
the denial of her "manifest destiny" and the subsequent frustration would explain a lot about her current tactics. To a degree I think that she should have aimed to go into Congress during Bill's 2nd term then she would have been able to make a run in 2004. Mind you that would have meant the triumph of the DLC so perhaps we should be thankful

23. something I wonder is how much of her destiny has become a collective goal, of politiicians,
of DLC, and such. If she is also going for the presidency "for the team". It is strange to think about the underbelly, I really cannot, without further research...

I am inclined to believe Hillary still prefers her own goals and always has them in mind, though.

26. Nice job!
I don't think the word I would have used is destiny. It is more a firm belief that she is the best person for the job and the one who can help the country in these trying times. Both Clintons deeply believe in public service, either one could have had a great career in private practice but chose to serve. They definitely weren't in it for the money either, even if they have accumulated a fair amount of it since leaving the WH. The Clintons were the poorest couple to enter the WH in decades.

It saddens me that this remarkable woman may not be our first president.

Unfortunately, we'll end up with a divided party and with too much bitterness to come together in the fall. There are already too many people who will not vote for Obama no matter the consequences. Leave it to the Democratic party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.........
