Hillary insults voters in attack on Rev. Wright
Hillary insults voters in attack on Rev. Wright
BY MARY MITCHELL Sun-Times Columnist

What I find the most sickening about politics is that some politicians think the American people are idiots.

No, strike that.

Some politicians depend on them being idiots. That's how they get elected.

For instance, what are voters supposed to believe about Sen. Hillary Clinton's back-handed criticism of Sen. Barack Obama's decision not to disown the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., his former longtime pastor?

After three weeks of acting as if the cat had her tongue, Clinton coyly told reporters on Tuesday that "he would not have been my pastor."

"You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend," she said.

Voters who are still trying to sort out fact from fiction with respect to Trinity and Wright are not supposed to notice that Clinton is taking the low road.

Instead of following Obama's lead and using this incident to seek racial reconciliation, Clinton is further fanning the flames by attempting to paint herself as the more racially sensitive candidate.

"You know, I spoke out against Don Imus, saying that hate speech was unacceptable in any setting, and I believe that," Clinton said. "I just think you have to speak out against that."

Since Obama has already spoken out against Wright's remarks, Clinton is simply trying to milk the controversy for political advantage.

But Americans are supposed to be too dumb to see that.

Indeed, the fact that Clinton found her voice on this issue on the same day she was outed as having misstated her Bosnia experience is merely a coincidence.

1. Is there any demographic of the dysfunctional vote she's not capturing?
I think she's got them all. Next week Chelsea will be forced to main line "H" so Hillary can be the tough love mother.

3. Obama sought "racial reconciliation" after twenty years?
Oh that's rich! Funny, I thought he was seeking damage control -- wrapped in eloquence, of course!

5. When your pastor is unfairly demonized as the equivalent of david duke...
you have to set the record straight.

7. 30 second soundbites doesn't equal 20 years of sermons.
If that was the case, Wright should never have been invited to the White House by the Clintons during Bill's lying and cheating episode.

And in one of those 30 second soundbites, Wright is quoting an ambassador who was being interviewed on Fox News after 9/11.

12. You know their is a lot of truth in what Wright said you do not
seem to want to believe that the USA has ever done a thing wrong in its history. Face it we could be better and that does not make me hate this country.

Two weeks ago Greta Van Susteren was slobbering all over Bill Clinton during an interview.

It will be interesting to see if she chooses to, once again, smear not only Obama, his retired Reverend, but also the entire 8400 member (many pastors no longer including Rev. Wright) Trinity Christian Church.

Is it any wonder that they have "republican support" with regard to votes from the African American Community?

You can label/stereotype them as you will (we are all human) but African Americans are NOT fools.

We were successful at all but breaking the proud spirit of The American Indian mostly due to the curse of alcohol (does not mix well with their genetic make-up) but we will not break the spirit of other ethnic groups.

Look what that gross man who was recently forced to resign from the Congress (Janklow), has done to the Sioux Indian in South Dakota.

http://siouxme.com/lodge/janklow.html

When I was growing up in the rural plains, it was the American Indian that was being treated (and is in many cases) as second class citizens.

If HRC continues to persist pimping this Wright story she will also be cursed with the fall out of stoking the fires of "a double standard" where it comes to black vs. white ministers.

HRC may smear/dirty trick her way into winning the Democratic Nomination but she can't win the GE without African Americans.
