McCain is truly an awful candidate
If he wins, it's our own fault

"We're succeeding. I don't care what anybody says. I've seen the facts on the ground," the Arizona senator insisted a day after a roadside bomb in Baghdad killed four U.S. soldiers and rockets pounded the U.S.-protected Green Zone there, and a wave of attacks left at least 61 Iraqis dead nationwide."

There's another ad right there. I think Americans have had enough of a turd president who won't listen to them.

1. Finally, I post I can agree with. Wish more energy here was
spent attacking lobbyist-chasing McCain than attacking Democrats.

If McCain admits that Iraq was a mistake, (IMO, a planned mistake) then he has to admit that Vietnam was a mistake. No way he can go there. Sorry, Johnny, we've seen enough dysfunction in the Oval Office for the last 7 1/2 years.

I cannot wait! We all may need to stock up on some fresh popcorn though! :D

4. McCain is a total sell-out.
His head is stuck so far up Bush's ass, he wouldn't know the truth it if tapped him on the shoulder.

McCain will only be subject to ideological attacks if you have the right candidate to go up against him and the reason is simply this.

5 years in a prison camp in North Vietnam. That's it, that's the rationale for his campaign and it's why he is dangerous as a nominee. He is the son of a general, not of the common man by any measure, but he got shot down in 'Nam. They offered him a way out, he was given a choice, you are the son of the general, we'll let you out. He said no, he chose to stick with his men, many of them from the working class. He chose to suffer torture with them.

This gives McCain an untouchableness that few other candidates have ever had. It also gives him a powerful inroute with the working class who may hate all that he stands for, but who will vote for him simply because of his service to his country....if our ticket is unacceptable in their eyes.

With McCain, the Atwaters of the world can run every negative attack they want and it won't affect McCain at all. After all, he is the war hero. He can even condemn those who made the attack. He will recieve none of the negative of turning people off who will abhor the attacks but he will actually recieve the benefit of the people who do respond to the attacks and decide to vote for him. This is the Republican strategy this year, we have already seen evidence of it. Keep this in mind as you watch the primaries

12. I guess this means we can't do the
trophy wife attack? I was hoping that would fly a little bit with the religous right. You know, hypocritical old fart dumps long-suffering wife for a younger babe. My bet is he did have sex with that woman before the divorce.

Sigh.

And welcome to DU!

19. Yay for morans.
McCain never had a general as a father. Ever.

In the Navy, the term is 'admiral'.

Morans can't even honor our services right, yay.

20. Well, he got shot down once...
He denounced the United States under torture, and then he voted to allow us to torture. He has no policy except cut taxes. Someone like Obama will take him apart in the debates. (Hillary could, but is not in a any position to attack him now, after endorsing him.)

He does have favor with the press, but that can be neutralized when he gets into trouble repeatedly because he doesn't really know anything.

But... so was bush!

Never underestimate the stupidity / gullibility of the average American... or the M$M's adeptness at manipulating the same. (I don't know if 'adeptness' is actually a word or if I just made it up...)

21. Agreed.
I think we have great arguments against him, personally, but I guess we'll see how this primary plays out before we can fully move on to McCain... though it wouldn't hurt to start jabbing a bit now as I saw Obama did yesterday.
