3. Why?
I mean, why do you like Breaux better than McCain?

I checked out Breaux's record, I didn't like what I saw. If you want someone with a consevative record, at least McCain has Independent appeal.

Let's stick with a Center/Left Dem. Try a governor - not another Senator - or someone with lots of experience in a past administration.

5. yellow dog democrats
because while breaux's own voting record is conservative he has always been a loyal democrat. he has always supported other democrats and while he votes different from most democrats because he comes from a conservative state, he doesn't bash the democrats as zell miller and joe lieberman do. and for some democrats that' s a big thing.

13. Yeah Breaux is basically the most popular politican here in LA...
Granted I wish he would vote more liberal in some cases but you can tell that he's not a Republican.

8. Breaux is a Democrat, albeit a conservative one.
Breaux makes a lot of sense as VP, frankly. He's very well-liked in LA, a battleground/swing state, and he would help elsewhere, like AR, TN, FL and (possibly) NC and VA; he is also an able campaigner and a good speaker who could help our House and senate candidates, as well. While I prefer Edwards, Breaux works on many levels, too.

9. I like Breaux alot...
..but I don't think he would be right for Kerry, that said Kerry/Breaux could win and no doubt would carry LA. Breaux has always been loyal to the party sticking with us through think and thin and defending Mary Landrieu tooth and nail the other year in her re-election despite Bush heaping praise on him when he went to stump for Landrieu's opponent. Yeah he's a conservative Dem only a little to the left of GOP moderates like Olympia Snowe and Arlen Specter but he's a good man and a loyal one.

But as I said not right For Kerry... Edwards is the only choice or perhaps Mark Warner.

10. Agreed, Breaux is a Pretty Good Guy
And he really went to the wall for Mary Landrieu. I've heard that the GOP has tried repeatedly to get him to switch parties and he's told them to get stuffed every time.

11. Good guy indeed...
...as I said he's a conservative Dem, but while the likes of Miller get scores in the 80's from the American Conservative Union Breaux get about 42, on a par with moderates in the GOP like Specter and Snowe (she's about 54 I think)... Apparently after he was "elected" (First US president elected by Five people... but enough of that  )Bush invited Breaux to his ranch and offered him the post of sectary of state Breaux effectively said "Hell No" and then while Bush praised him he went the extra mile for Landrieu... this thing is in both parties its not about being a radical or a moderate its about being loyal to the party and its principles, Zell is not, to an extent Lincoln in R.I is not but folks like Breaux or Specter are, and both should be commended for that.

15. They were wasting their time trying to get Breaux to switch...
He's the driving force behind democratic dominance in Louisiana. All be it that some of our elected officials *cough Kathleen Blanco *cough are DINOs but still much better than the repukes.

12. Breaux Would Be A Great Choice
I think we would carry Louisiana and Arkansas with Breaux. Also, he would keep Bush so busy in the South and border states, that it would help in the midwest. I don't really think that Breux is being considered, however. Have not heard of any vetting of Breaux. Unless he is the surprise choice we hear about sometimes.
