NC: Dem's big tent gets bigger, GOP gets more exclusionary.
Two articles that give good insight into the state of party politics in North Carolina.

First, a new group of progressive democrats is organizing:

Some liberal North Carolina Democrats -- they prefer to be called "progressives" -- have formed a new wing of the party that they hope will draw attention to environment and social issues.

Members have chosen Greensboro to host their founding convention.

-----------------
Meanwhile, the state GOP is rejecting the Log Cabin Republicans:

The move angered gay Republicans, who say this is the latest example of their party engaging in cultural warfare. The state party leadership also backs a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriages and said it plans to denounce homosexuality as "not normal" at its convention.
