"The Real Deal"

"A Lifetime of service and strength"

"Let America be America again"

Can't we just stick with one//?? :D

1. I think...
Bush* is sticking with the same campaign theme - "I can't believe you're all letting me get away with this".

2. I don't like "let America be America again"
Forget "letting" anything be (unless you are the Beatles), let's make it happen!

Letting is passive, it's time to fight for what we believe in, rather than just letting things happen.

7. "Letting" America be America is what led to the
scenes of torture at Abu Ghraib and all over Iraq and Afghanistan. Just Americans being Americans and following in the footsteps of their ancestors who lynched blacks and left them hanging so people could picnic under the hanging people and have their pictures taken and turned into postcards to be sent to friends and family.

I prefer that America live up to what I know this country can be and what it claims to be: a welcoming beacon to those who yearn for a better life regardless of race, creed, class or color.

11. Right because Kerry is referring to the America where lynching was common
Let America be America Again

Let America be the America that freed the slaves, fought for Independence, created the Bill of Rights, brings in the tired, poor and hungry, fights a holocaust, fights for civil rights and equality. Those actions are decidedly American, and the actions they sought to correct were un-American specifically because they were unconstitutional.

Just because some Americans are dumb enough to think being "American" means being an asshole, does not mean we should dumb down our ideals for them. I'm tired of playing down to people's stupidity. I want to expect more of people. They will rise to the challenge.

4. There's only one theme:
winning in November. Those little sayings you list are called slogans. A single theme can have numerous slogans applied to it.

5. Are you clever if you are not original?
That point was made by Tucker Carlson on Crossfire - and what killed me at the time (and now) is that every time Bush speaks to a crowd he has some banner behind him stating yet another theme

6. Here's a good one --

"I'm John Kerry. Help me kick Bush's ass in November."

Heard him say that on TV yesterday and felt so inspired.

I like that one - about the ass kicking.

I'd go for that.

9. LOL why are we compelled to repeat right wing talking points?
No offense meant, but I swear this sounds like something Governor Marc Racicot might say. Next Kerry will have no message or moral core.

JK is out everyday giving policy speeches etc, and yet I still hear from dem friends that "Kerry has no message."

13. I like the first two
The last one just doesn't sound that good.

In the order though: 2,1,3 I really did like Kerry's ad about service and strength. It may sound a bit corny, but I actually found them inpirational.

14. I like "Let America be America Again". It's a variation on...
"I want my country back again", which I've heard a lot of people say. "Let America Be America Again" taps into that yearning perfectly.
