Obama's trash made me look twice
I wasn't always an Obama supporter. I liked his style. He impressed me with how he reached out to people across the political spectrum, racial and economic divide, and put forward a positive message. However, I wasn't convinced he could win. And having been fooled by other candidates in the past who ran on a "change" agenda, I was a little hesitant to accept Obama as, pardon the cliche, "the real thing."

What changed it for me is an interview with Michelle, in which she said despite his busy schedule as a U.S. senator, it is still his task to take out the trash each week. The same is true with his other household chores and family duties. This is the type of experience that I can identify with as a parent and an average income earner. It is also the type of experience that keeps a politician grounded in where he or she came from.

Yeah, this is going to see silly to many, but the fact Obama still takes out his own trash, and the fact he married a strong woman who holds him to his family and household responsibilities, appeals to me a Casey-Democrat-turned-independent.

4. A wise woman once told me that true power is comprised of two things.
They are humility and compassion. She furthered that one without the other is completely useless.

5. according to his memoir, he can do housework too
He was a typical middle class kid who had to help out at home. He also describes himself cooking as a young single person on his own.

7. He can cook too?
Okay, that puts me over the top. In our family the cooking is 50/50. And more for hubby if you throw in the BBQ.

6. Check out this video of him talking about Women's wages and child care...
I put it on my new blog: http://NoDictation.com... it is on the front page. I know exactly what you mean. When I read his book Audacity of Hope and he talks about how lucky he and Michelle are to have her mother help out with his girls when needed because Michelle works, he is really grounded. He does not come across like some of these gazillionaires. He and Michelle know they are privileged now, but the compassion from Obama is genuine. He had a great mom.
