Idea for an Ad Campaign (Republicans for Kerry)
I was thinking today about a possible line of ads for Kerry using disgruntled Republicans. They could use rank and file Republicans from each state(ie individualize the ads for each state).

They would go something like this:

"My name is________, and I'm a registered Republican here in (insert battleground state here). I believe in the conservative values that have made our family great. But running a $400 billion deficit isn't conservative, creating a prescription drug bill that benefits HMOs isn't conservative, unilaterally invading a soverign nation isn't conservative. and giving no bid contracts isn't conservative. All George W. Bush has done is create a bigger and more inefficient government. That's why I'm supporting John Kerry for President. He has plans to cut the deficit and stabilize the situation in Iraq and bring our soldiers home. America can't afford another four years of George W Bush, because George W Bush isn't a conservative, he's just a con."

Better yet if we can get someone like Paul O' Neill for a national ad.

Another strategy might be to cut and paste quotes from Hagel, McCain, Powell, etc for an ad OR overlay these quotes onto the screen while the Republican for Kerry is speaking.

1. Excellent
Send it to the Kerry campaign. I always like to mock Conservatives with the Terry McAuliffe type comment: "If fiscal responsibility, paying down the debt, not mucking with the Constitution for political gain, respecting person privacy, reducing the size of government are 'Conservative' ideals, then Clinton/Gore were the greatest Conservatives ever!"

2. Good idea! Here's a suggestion.

Using photos instead of a talking head would be effective. Do the photos much like a Ken Burns effect with the photos in the "white flight" burbs with flags, churches, kids in playgrounds, family reunions, shopping malls, cemetaries...maybe a young couple that merges into a middle-aged family into a senior couple with grandkids. Maybe some fishing and/or a NASCAR dad at a race...

The music would be acoustic guitar and some sappy string arrangement.

Play the ad on Saturdays during the Sports times (11:30-5) ad nauseum.

The voiceover would be a string of different voices from all the people mentioned.

It would be kind of an anti-Morning In America with hats off to Reagan ads.
