A Kentucky Gay Memorial Day thingy....
Well..since Memorial Day is coming up here I'd liketo memorialize my old freind Robert Badger, who died of AIDS back in the early 90s...I knew this guy back when he was in jr high & high school.....my best freind....

,,he went to Uof K too, then on to the American University in DC, and then to brief career to the Dept of Commerce..he was the youngest litigator for this dept (and old Robert had a mouth on him for sure as we had knock-down/drag-out arguments over the dinner table at our house...he was a close neighbor)....we where good buddys ....he took me down to Kentucky Lake to his folks fishing camp one summer and we were in the boy scouts togther....no gay sex tho...we where both gay...but just freinds....but he sort of brought me out when we where in college...I owe alot to Robert....

The Lucinda Williams song makes me thing of "Bobby Bizzare" alot....not "Pineoloa" but Valley Station, Kentucky......

hen Daddy told me what happened

They took the sheets off of the bed and they went to call someone

Some of us gathered at a friend's house to help each other ease the
pain

I just sat alone in a corner chair I couldn't say much of anything

We drove on out to the country
C G
His friends all stood around

Subiaco Cemetery is where we lay him down
F C G
I saw his mama, she was standing there his sister she was there too
F C G
I saw them look at us standing around the grave and not a soul they
knew
G F C G
Born and raised in Pineola his mama believed in the Pentecost
F C G
She got the preacher to say some words so his soul wouldn't get lost

Some of us we stood in silence some bowed their heads and prayed

I think I must've picked up a handful of dust and let it fall over his
grave
