"I had met him as a young woman....."
That's what Hillary said in her interview with Brian Williams tonight, referring to Martin Luther King:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#23960750

Pardon me, but over the years I've gone to see George McGovern, Jerry Brown and Jesse Jackson, but I wouldn't say I have ever actually met any of them!

1. Help me out, where did she meet him?

It is getting harder and harder to believe anything that she says.

34. I really did meet him and it was profound
MLK had the most beautiful eyes that looked right at you.

I was in college and I heard him speak at a church in Philadelphia.

I can remember it like it was yesterday.

I can remember the other students that were with me.

Did she provide more details than that or was she walking down the street with someone else or what ~

2. I wouldn't chose this as an issue
She also could have met an evil person. Just because you meet a great person and even shake their hand, doesn't mean the greatness rubs off.

It is a non- issue.

11. Well that certainly seems to be the core argument of her campaign
That Bill's presidency somehow "rubbed off" on her.

I am sure there is one somewhere, assuming that Hillary is telling the truth.

I thought she went to hear him speak with her church group. Did she also say she met him in her past accounts of the time?

15. Okay
Good for her. Just hadn't heard that before.

Incidentally, my father once met Dr. King. Then again, he was supposed to. He was a reporter at the time. Sad family tale, actually. The paper that sent him was anti-King. Which meant the Reverend wouldn't do a sit-down with my father. Just answered a couple of questions. I regret the hell out of that. Dad was a fair man when it came to his reporting, in spite of his employer. Instead, he got a sit-down with George Wallace.

Sigh.

13. What's your point are you saying she didn't
meet him? If she would have made a campaign speech in Indiana she would have been criticised for not showing MLK respect. She made a joke about dodging sniper fire on Leno last night and I have even heard that was somehow insulting our troops and MLK.

16. Why tell the story for years about seeing him speak in Chicago,
then suddenly announce today that you shook his hand and met him? Just on the face of it, why would someone who was just another white teenager have been introduced to Dr, King?

23. Well you actually (hear) someone speak, maybe
he shook some peoples hands after the speech. Prove she didn't. Why didn't Obama visit Memphis today? If Clinton made a campaign speech in Indiana she would accused of disrespecting MLK. It seems like he runs as the black candidate when it's to his advantage but today he don't want to remind us he is black.

26. I shook hands with Dr King in Detroit after his sermon at Central Methodist.
I went with my dad who was a Presbyterian minister and we DID get individually introduced to Dr King at the clergy reception following.

I don't know why Hillary wouldn't remember the hand-shaking before. I certainly have remembered over the years.

21. What's posted there may be true, but frankly it seems a bit
exaggerated or over the top. She canvassed the Robert Taylor Homes for Goldwater? I read the piece several times trying to decide whether it was a parody.

She changed political parties during the VietNam war where she became an activist (I know that's hard to believe :P) against the war.

32. I'm not surprised or upset that she was a Goldwater Girl given that
her dad was a Republican. But sending a kid from the 'burbs to canvass for Goldwater at a rather notorious housing project? I thought I had it bad canvassing for McGovern in Cheektowaga!

Some people may use the word "meet" to refer to their presence near a person.
