18. I was thinking this would be a tough call for HRC's campaign-
If you boot Penn you essentially admit he was a slime with questionable clients.

Keep him, and you're complicit in his work for the "bad guys".

This was probably the best choice for her.

46. I don't see how she can
try to feign ignorance (if that's the route she takes) as to what kind of clients BM caters to. And you nailed it -- if the press asks her "why did you hire this person who is associated with a firm who represents clients who do NOT represent America's best interests?" -- what the hell can she say?

Although in this case, they were representing America's best interests, according to Bushco.

They are supposed to move back to Louisiana from what I recall reading here about a week or two ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if they knew sh*t was about to hit the fan.

I know so many wondered why the hell they continued to ignore the MATH that said that she would have to win > 60% of ALL the remaining 10 contests JUST to break even with Obama! There is NO WAY she can do that. The closest she might get is getting 60% in KY and/or WV but that's it. No way she'll get that in PA with Philadelphia voting overwhelmingly for Obama.

The only hope she has is a coup via SDs. That would destroy the party.

What's more important to you -- a Democratic President or Hillary going to the end?

36. Free ride? He's won the nomination -- she cannot win unless she bullies him into quitting
Or somehow steals all his SDs.

How is that winning?

I would LOVE to be supporting Edwards at this point, but the choice has been made -- I want a strong party and not
merely to force my will upon the party.

45. I don't recall Russert doing anything on Penn
but he did sock it to Rendell with the delegate issue and the Clinton campaign's insistence on overturnng the will of the voters via SDs.

Rendell was on the defensive most of the time. I know people who haven't experienced him for the 30 years that many of Philadelphians have might think that when he's running his mouth alot, this is saving him and he's winning some argument. But in this instance, he is on the losing side and you could see it in his face, and none of his requisite motor-mouthing could get him out of that.

65. She should have fired him after the Super Tuesday slaughter.
That would have given the campaign a bit more time to regroup and not be forced to trickle out some controversial staff removals. But instead, she dumped her Hispanic campaign manager in a public way, pissing off yet another group of supporters, while keeping Jabba the Hutt on, who was content to milk her campaign dry.

Now he'll just sail off into the sunset and put all his time and effort on helping McCain beat the Democrats, now knowing all the Democratic Party's strategies, just like how Carville passed on info to the repukes via his wife Mary Maitlin when Kerry ran.

This is how opportunists work.

Instead of paying any attention to criticism, she dug her heels in deeper and her supporters kept encouraging her.

I don't get it. If Obama did something stupid, I'd let his campaign know in no uncertain terms. I'm a bit sad to see her sink this dramatically but she was in control and made her own choices. OTOH, I'm glad she didn't listen.

A few days ago the News started reporting that he was working for and meeting with Colombian officials to discuss a free-trade agreement while Clinton's on the campaign trail telling people she opposes it. Colombia fired him yesterday!

His firm also has a shitload of bad clients like Blackwater and torturers but it was the Colombia thing that did it.

Of course, it is probably a cover for getting out of a gig that is NOT paying and that will NOT get him a WH connection in November...as damaging as the Columbia thing is, the headline "Penn leaving Clinton campaign due to being owed **several millions** of dollars in backpay" is the last thing HRC wants.

72. She isn't go to cut all ties
Cuz he can probably say "fine, I want to be paid IN FULL right NOW" and given that her last publically reported IOU to his firm is just under $3 million (March 20th FEC report) and she only has $7 mil left to use in the primary, she might as well give her concession speech, like, tonight.

So even if she WANTED to totally dump him, she may not be ABLE to dump him.
