The Dean reflections on his campaign have been turned into an attack on Al Gore by the misuse of headlines. Congrats, you fell for it. I posted about this last night. The AJC was the first, others followed.

1. Oh Dean the poor victim of the corporate media
The same media that gave him more coverage than any other candidate before Iowa, and gave him large amounts of coverage before he was leading in the polls. The same media that politely ignored candidates who had stronger anti-war views like Sharpton, Kucinich and Braun.

Yes, Dean was hurt when the coporate media turned on him near the end. But lets not forget that early on the media also helped make him the frontrunner by giving him more positive coverage than any other candidates. This entire primary campaign was driven by the corporate media.

2. You're right about the media
Not only do they decide who's going to be the chosen one, they seem to march in lockstep. Such a pack mentality.

4. Don't you care that all our candidates are victims?
All of them. Don't you care for the distortions...that is just keeps happening?

Kerry folks just seem so alarmed, but we told them so.

Yes, the others got ignored. We have all said that as well.

5. Yes, but they aren't always victims
I think its horrible that the media controls the process to the extent that it does. I just think if people are going to complain about the media tearing down Dean at the end, they should also admit the degree to which Dean was promoted by the corporate media earlier in the primary.

I saw an endless succession of fluff stories about Dean’s internet campaign, even when he wasn't the only one doing it. I saw the media constantly portray Dean as the only anti-war progressive in the race, even though he wasn't really progressive and there were other candidates against the war. What interest does the corporate media have in promoting a moderate on economic issues to liberals? I’m glad Dean came out against media consolidation problems, but Kucinich did it months earlier at the first primary debate; and we see how the media responded. Dean got much of his early support because people found out about him from the corporate media that routinely portrayed him as more liberal than he was.

6. That is not his fault. If the media ignored Kucinich, not Dean's fault.
Sorry, but it is not his fault.

3. Ingrates. Gore did so much for the telecoms while VP. It's amazing that
they turn around and slap him every chance they get.

Of course, slapping Gore helps them get moe of what Gore was trying to give them as VP.
