Do you have family in Iraq and does this flavor your VP choice?
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 08:36 PM by Scoopie
I don't. In fact, I don't know anyone over there (thank God!), but I've had a lot of people ask since I'm such a ferverent Clark supporter.

This isn't so much a poll because the answers can be nuanced. Just tell me if you have family over there and why you support Clark or don't or that you don't have family over there and support Clark or Edwards or whomever.

You get the picture.

1. Yes family over there
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 08:39 PM by freetobegay
And Yes I would have no problem supporting Clark, in fact He was my choice for President in the Primaries!

ON EDIT: I support Clark because of his military background & his compassion for life.

2. No, but I support either Clark or Edwards, each for different reasons.

5. Well, of course Kerry is better than Shrub
but that wasn't my question.
My question was, more precisely, "does the fact that you have family or close friends in Iraq flavor your VP choice or not?"

4. Isn't ironic, SharonAnn
that both of us are from the Volunteer State and don't have family over there?
I was thinking just a minute ago and it must certainly be my age bracket (early 30s). I'm too young to have son over there and too old to have the 18 to 25 year olds there as contemporaries. I may know some guys in the National Guard who are there, but they're just not close (which is why I don't know they're there).

6. No, I don t have family in Iraq..
But, I have a strong personal connection to the military.

I value our military, & the sacrifices made on behalf of country.

And it is part of the reason I support Wes Clark, & wanted to see him as President.

Also, I think the Dems are perceived as being anti-military (some are)
& I think running 2 war heroes against 2 chicken hawks is not only good for the country, but good for the party.

The Dems need to prove this election that THEY are mainstream, & the Repubs are the extremists!

7. my husband is a marine...
and we support Clark, though never in Iraq. We also have a friend who's a ranger in special ops who supports Clark and so does his mother. He's been in Iraq twice now, and will be going back soon.

10. Jai, thank you for your service!
I knew you had been in the Army...did not know you were a career type.

The country needs to know that Dems are true patriots, & Wes Clark, along with John Kerry will make that case.

9. My daughter-in-law is there. I've always liked Clark, but
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 11:55 PM by Kimber Scott
I don't know, if he can really help Kerry, or not. I voted for Clark in the primaries, but because I like him so much, doesn't mean everybody else does. Edwards doesn't do anything for me one way, or the other. Maybe, that's the way a VP should be. I don't know. Gephardt bores me to death. I'm wondering, also, if it shouldn't just be somebody out of the blue...

I don't care who Kerry picks. He's got my vote. He needs to pick somebody who's going to play to the people in the middle, and even Republicans, if he's going to win.

On edit: P.S. If he picked Clark I would be VERY happy. I just don't know how Clark plays with people who aren't like me - military.
