New PA Poll (Franklin & Marshall College poll) : Clinton's lead over Obama shrinks to 6 points

One week before Pennsylvania's primary, Sen. Barack Obama has narrowed Sen. Hillary Clinton's lead among Pennsylvania voters from 16 to six points, a poll released Tuesday showed.

Clinton of New York led Obama of Illinois 46 to 40 percent in the Franklin & Marshall College poll conducted for the Tribune-Review, WTAE-TV and other news outlets. When voters leaning toward one candidate or the other were included, the gap grew to 49 percent for Clinton and 42 percent for Obama, with 8 percent, or about one in 12 voters, undecided.

The poll, taken as controversy was building over Obama's remarks about Pennsylvania voters in depressed small towns being "bitter" and clinging to their guns and religion, showed Obama's favorable ratings increased from 47 to 53 percent as Clinton's declined from 65 to 58 percent.
