"Moral clarity" is a * campaign theme
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I saw part of the McCain campaign speech for Bush, as well as commencement speeches given by Carl Rove and Colin Powell. All three made sure to work in the term "moral clarity" when speaking about Bush and his "leadership." (All three speeches were plugs for Bush, of course.)

Apparently this is to be an ongoing theme.

10. I think they'd be stressing religion, sex, and gay marriage issues.
When they use that term, my guess would be that they are stressing the sex, religion, and marriage (a/k/a gay marriage) issues.

13. And? What's so morally clear about their positions?
Against abortion but for the death penalty.
Against gay marriage but they seem to tolerate divorce just fine...they just dietized the first president ever to serve having been divorced.
For religion but I can't recall a single pro war rant by Jesus.

the Patriot Act.

They are dumbasses, what else can I say?

5. No Child Left Behind.
As if that is a good thing!

When I saw the ad for it, I thought it must be a joke at first but nope, it was real.

4. What are your feelings on the subject?
My feelings are they push moral clarity but if we take a look at their record i.e. lying about the reasons for Iraq, pretending not to know Kenneth Lay while he raped the nation, his employees and his share holders, killing innocent people and locking up innocent people secretively without trials, and outing a CIA agent in retribution for shining a light on their lies, offering forged documents as proof to the UN....they are RIPE with moral ambiguity....and benefiting immensely from that portion of the public which eats catch phrases like "moral clarity" as though it is fine chocolate when it's nothing more than loose runny dogshit

6. They operate under "Perception is reality"
so as long as they are "perceived" as being moral, all of the lies, death, stealing, etc. is irrelevent. If the voting public finds them moral, they are more apt to blame the press then the culprits.

7. on issues of war, presidents should struggle with the issue
it's not good to have someone like bush who is so sure of himself on issues, especially war and refuse to listen and learn about different sides or the negatives of his position. even with all the mess bush said he could not think of any mistakes he made. a better person even if they thought war was the right thing would have at least said something like they could have tried to be more prepared for the aftermath of saddam's regime or worked harder to get other allies or many other things. but we all know bush doesn't really care about those who are hurt because of what he does.

15. Kerry should make Bush eat "moral clarity."
Edited on Sun Jun-20-04 02:38 PM by gulliver
If they are so morally clear, why do they have to hide everything they do.

Was Bush morally clear when he hid his drunk driving conviction?

Were the sixteen words morally clear? "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." Seems kind of sneaky to me, even if you don't mind the fact that the President of the United States accused another country of a nuclear program in the State of the Union speech and the accusation was based on forged documents.

16. Save a fetus. Kill a young soldier.
That kind of moral clarlity?

I say they bring us Supreme Arrogance.

An arrogance or two a day. With its damage throughout the country and the world.

17. "Moral Clarity" is just another code phrase,
used to communicate to the Repthugs' bigoted, sexually-repressed, religious hypocrite base consisting of mainly white men. These guys feel threatened both sexually and financially by gays, Jews, non-compliant women, better educated people, people of color, etc., etc.

19. Agree. I think Kerry's camp oughtta do a number on that term
like what happened with "Mission Accomplished." I think it would be successful, since it would be true.
