I'm sorry some lowlife sent that to you. You can bet he doesn't bother sending shit like that to someone who isn't pushing all his buttons by EFFECTIVELY countering what he stands for. And by his action in sending it, you get a pretty good idea exactly what it is that he DOES stand for. This election really is critical. What we are trying to do really does matter. What YOU are doing really is important. Sometimes you can judge a person by their enemies, but in this case I never needed that. You have always been tops in my book. God bless you.

What esteemed words of support! I really was wondering if it was a mass-attack on DU'ers, but I guess it was personal. That being said, for every enemy I make, I plan to win over two for the good guys.

Sometimes it's not the "positive" responses that reflect who or how many people that you are effecting -- but rather it's the number of "negative" responses -- something you said/posted touched a nerve and angered a morAn enough that he/she took the time to send you the e-mail.

From the content of the e-mail you posted I can see that this person has declined to address whatever issue he/she had and preferred to use the GOPer tactic of school-yard name calling.

Some freeper that hangs out here evidently saw your thread about the letter you wrote. Seems your letter upset him, more evidence of a job well done! :thumbsup:

That is, at minimum, a violation of anyone's TOS; it is also a thinly-veiled threat, IMO.

I reported him to his e-mail provider, but got a new one today:

"Stay away from that fat pigs Moore's movie-We freepers carry"

But of course you are right to take it seriously enough to report. "Threats" aren't really personal unless and until they start appearing in your day to day life, not just online and/or in public email boxes.

No threat should be dismissed out of hand, including this one. Hope they catch whoever it is.

GEEEEEZ! They are all deranged! I didn't receive any email like that and am sorry you did. That's frightening.

All it takes is one nut to sound threatening. Hope it doesn't doesn't go anywhere (probably not). I notice that few ever act much out, unless they are on drugs or alcohol, and then they are usually too discoherent to be methodical. Bush etal has done much to exaggerate the fear base these days. We'll hope we get someone more reasonable in office soon, huh?

Did you list your e-mail on DU? Or did he track you down? That could also be CyberStalking in addition to terroristic threats.

Because I reconstructed it. He read the DU thread about the published letter to the editor, which included your full name. He then put that name into a Yahoo! search. One of the found entries was a page on which your email address was linked. He then sent his nasty emails to that email address. I went to another page found in that same Yahoo! search, where you had made a post some time ago--and there was what appeared to be a link to a shall we say unsavory web page, dated 6/19/04--do you suppose that is a coincidence?

Is there any way you or the mods could remove identifying info from your letter to the editor thread?

I hope the authorities take this matter seriously and go after this person. If his return email address is not a fake, that should help them find him.

I guess we all need to remember what ugliness exists among some people in the world and to take care to stay safe.

I followed your trail, and I'm really really pissed off. First at myself for posting my name with that original thread, and second at the freeper from hell for acting like a pathetic excuse for a human being.

Hell, if I wanted a stalker, I'd pick better.

prints the emails they get from "Christians" (probably all freepers) when they win a court battle or get a LTOE published. The emails sound just like the ones to you, or worse, and are usually full of spelling and grammatical errors.

Actually you can trace the message via hotmail by changing your settings as often times these messages have a phony return address.
