Latest Dean Dozen

Nancy Farmer for United States Senate from Missouri. Governor Howard Dean has been campaigning with Dean Dozen candidates and Nancy Farmer in St. Louis and Kansas City recently. In the race to win back the Senate, Farmer is one of our best hopes. She is a progressive up against one of George W. Bush's staunchest conservative allies. It's going to be close! www.nancyfarmer.com

Debra Sasser for Wake County, North Carolina District Court Judge. As an attorney, Debra has fought for children and family rights. On the bench, Debra will bring judicial temperament, common sense and integrity. There are very few Democratic judges in North Carolina - and it is about time we start electing some good progressive ones. www.debrasasser.com

Dana Rasch for Florida State Representative. As a 1st Lieutenant and casualty officer in the United States Marine Corps it was Dana Rasch's solemn responsibility to inform parents about the loss of their loved ones in Iraq. This changed him. A day after earning an honorable discharge in December, 2003, Dana went to work on Howard Dean's presidential campaign. Now he is committed to improving the lives of the people of Florida District 26 by running for office himself. www.danarasch2004.com

Fran Egbers for New Hampshire State Representative. After volunteering countless hours for Dean for America in New Hampshire, great-grandmother Fran is now running to represent the people of Manchester she met on the trail. www.franegbers.org

Peter Buckley for Oregon State Representative. Few people are more committed to getting people involved in their democracy than Peter. A Deaniac, Peter has been active in grassroots organizing and improving community life for 20 years. He has a great shot of winning this seat, as registered Democrats outnumber Republicans. Because Oregon is going to be close on so many levels, Peter will be pulling out progressive votes for candidates up and down the ballot. www.peterbuckley.org

Nate Hogan for Kansas State Senate. The Kansas Senate needs people like Nate Hogan whose priorities are public education, economic development and equal rights for all. That shouldn't be so revolutionary, should it? And yet, in Kansas, Nate Hogan has a tough fight on his hands. www.natehoganforkansas.com

Anne Wolfe, Steve Brozak, Amy Vasquez and Herb Conaway for United States Congress from New Jersey. The grassroots activists of New Jersey for Democracy (www.njfordemocracy.org) recommend Wolfe, Brozak, Vasquez and Conaway for Congress. And they are on the front lines of the fight to win back the House of Representatives. Each of these dynamic leaders is ready to go to Washington and stand for universal health care. www.wolfe2004congress.com, www.stevebrozakforcongress.com, www.amyvasquez.com and www.herbconawayforcongress.campaignoffice.com

Charlie Smith for South Carolina State House. A South Carolina native, Charlie worked tirelessly for Howard Dean during his race for the presidency. Now Charlie has answered the call again and is running for the state legislature. A successful businessman, Smith has great ideas for bringing jobs back to South Carolina, balancing the state budget, fully funding Medicare, and preserving the environment. Charlie Smith will stand up to his opponent on civil rights and fight for the GLBT community. He is a man of tremendous courage. www.friendsofcharliesmith.com

Re-elect Charley Murphy and Bill Straus Massachusetts State Representatives. Charley and Bill are two of the most dynamic leaders in the Massachusetts legislature. They helped lead the early efforts of the Dean campaign in the Commonwealth. Today they are targets of the Republican governor and his corporate machine. But they continue their drive for better health care, a cleaner environment and a public school system that provides every student an excellent education. Join Howard Dean and Representatives Murphy and Straus at a morning reception in their honor July 27 in Boston. www.repmurphy.com and www.repstraus.com

1. Nate Hogan
is a sweetie! And he deserves to be one of the Dean Dozen. I'm running for the Kansas House, and 10 of my 12 precincts are in Nate's district, so we're hoping somehow to help each other out.

Way to go Nate!

3. DFA has really come a long way in a short time.
I hope that more people pay attention to races other than the presidency before November. It's so important. We can no longer continue to settle for the status quo if we ever hope to get out of the terrible mess we're in.

5. Give to Peter Buckley
I've known him for a long time. He's exactly the kind of candidate we want to advance progressive values and restore sanity to government.

10. Good progress on one campaign for state legislature. Note from candidate.
I donated to this candidate as I know the area he is from is so conservative. I also noticed he attended the college I went to many moons ago. It is good this area of Florida is now considered viable.

SNIP from email: "I will be sure to keep you updated on the campaign's progress. Here are a few of our latest developments.

-- We were able to qualify by the petition method and avoid a $3,000 filing fee; my opponent failed to obtain enough signatures.

-- The UAW will endorse my candidacy.

-- A campaign manager is on it's way from the State Party, now that they
believe we can win!

Lastly, for state reporting purposes, I need to get your mailing address.
The papers have to be filed by June 30th, so please send me that information
as soon as possible.

Again, thank you for your generous support! Hope all is well...

Regards,
Dana

11. This is Volusia County, where there were many voting problems in 2000.
This is great progress that he is considered viable. It will take a while, but we will take back our state.
