Stop the Nader's Bush enabling ego trip by contributing today!
Please note: The inflamatory language was all mine. :P

(snip from dontvoteralph.org)

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Your response to our recent "Nader's 04 Candidacy: The True Impact" email campaign was tremendous. Now we're asking you to step up again. Of you who received our last email, thousands signed and circulated the "Ralph, Tell the Truth" petition1. Thanks to our Poll Watch '04 study2, Nader can no longer make the claim with impunity that he's helping to beat Bush.

Now we're poised to take our message to several million potential Nader supporters and other swing voters who may decide whether Bush gets four more years. Contribute today to help us:

...

And that's just the beginning. Recent contributions have helped us pay off debts and plan new internet, PR and activism strategies to unify progressives and independents to oust Bush. Your donation today will put us into overdrive.

Contribute today to help us keep up the momentum.

John Pearce

For those who have a tender spot for Ralph, I'd like to remind you of what he said when progressives addressed him with our concerns that he could help Bush AGAIN in 2004:

"I'm just amazed that people think I should be concerned ... It's absolutely amazing. Not a minute's sleep do I lose ... " Ralph Nader -- Common Dreams 4-03-2001

2. Nader is irrelevant this year
He will be lucky to even be on the ballot in all 50 states, and, for once, a large chunk of those who would vote for him are more committed to voting for Kerry just to get Bush the hell out of office. The fact that the Greens slapped him in the face and are only running a safe-state strategy ought to tell you just how marginal Nader is now.

3. If Nader pulls in even 1 vote this year
he's relevant. It's going to be a razor thin election and he needs to stay the fuck out.

6. That's right, and lest we forget he has the informal endorsement of the
Republican Party? :hi:

4. True, but he has the R money machine behind him, and it has been
demonstrated in many polls, that he could swing the election to Bush.

Here is what dontvoteralph intends to do with our money:

* Expand our Op-Ed and PR campaign in the progressive press, which has reached millions of readers in the past few weeks alone via AlterNet, Common Dreams, BuzzFlash, the AP, and the San Francisco Bay Guardian3. We're helping change the progressive view of Nader's 04 candidacy.

* Continue our grass-roots activism, in coalition with Democrats, Greens and Independents. Our allies at last weekend's Green Party convention played key roles in the superb outcome: Nader was denied the Green Party endorsement and 22 state ballot lines, while activist/lawyer David Cobb won the nomination based on his "safe-state" strategy to help beat Bush.

* Ensure that news media, both mainstream and progressive, know the facts about the Nader campaign, including its alliance with right-wing forces4.

REPUBLICANS ARE NOT ONLY CONTRIBUTING, BUT ARE MAKING CALLS TO THEIR VOTERS TO SIGN PETITIONS IN SWING STATES. This ain't over yet folks.

Contribute today to help us keep up the momentum :hi:

5. What we need
is to start seeing the Libertarian candidate (Bednarik) in these polls to see the effect he has on Bush. Lots and lots of conservatives are pissed with Bush right now, and they might pull the lever for L rather than vote Kerry (although it's the same thing).

I have a feeling Bednarik will have more of an effect than Nader, and that is a really good thing.

7. Is he on the ballot in swing states? Also, everyone has heard of Nader,
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 10:20 AM by mzmolly
not many have heard of the L candidate. And, the RW fundies don't like the libertarian ideals. The libertarians mind their own business dontcha know ;) I suspect the R's will fall in line again, out of fear of "them gays takin over our Kountry!" :scared: :eyes:

8. Think again
To my knowledge, Bednarik is on 44 or 45 ballots, including swing states. And not all conservatives are fundies, some are actually intelligent people who opposed the war in Iraq and Bush's reckless government spending. My point is, they are much more likely to vote for Libertarians than for Democrats.

People may not have heard of Bednarik, but they have heard of Libertarians, especially those disaffected conservatives that I have mentioned, and if he were included in the polls, I think, in a few states, Bush's numbers might drop a couple of points. And that's sometimes all we need.

9. I know alot of Republicans, and the MAIN reason they are R's is because
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 10:43 AM by mzmolly
they think their God wants them to be.

They are Anti-choice and Anti-gay rights etc.. And, gay rights is going to be key in this election because that's how the R's will hold on to their dedicated sheep. It's the carrot they will dangle before their frightened puritanical masses.

Also, who do you think will give Bednarik attention? Bush's friends in the media?

Sorry, I don't have to THINK AGAIN. :hi:

11. I know plenty of R's as well
and for them religion has absolutely nothing to do with it. Surprise, your world doesn't determine reality for everyone.

12. Gosh really *my* world doesn't determine reality for *everyone*
Got anything better than that?

Can you find me the polls that bolster your case that this guy from the libertarian party is a threat? Can you show me where in the media this guy is being talked about?

Until you can show me some data to bolster your assertions, they remain irrelevant.

Cheerio. :hi:
