I voted!
It feels good! At 8 am in a small township in Carbon County the line was out the door! :patriot:

Touchscreen without problems. Fingers crossed!

I will miss all of the commericals on TV and radio. It felt nice to feel so valued. I guess this is what it's like to be from Iowa or NH? Now we wait....

1. Let me tell you about the NH Primaries...
The phone calls begin in April, getting more numerous in the summer and becoming absolutely aggravating in the fall. By September, mailboxes are clogged with campaign literature and you can't walk up the street without seeing a dozen political signs. When you attempt to watch local TV, you'll see the same faces as the ones on your campaign literature, only they're more annoying because they won't shut up. Even as a volunteer, I was very happy when the NH Primary was over. By that time, I'd been called repeatedly and hung up on and yelled at even more.

You want First-in-the-nation status? Be careful what you wish for!

11. I hear ya! Being involved helps a lot.
In Iowa, it was incredible how many phone calls and brochures we received. However, I was able to discuss the campaign with most of the callers and get a feel for what was coming down. They were all polite and enthusiastic. It just so happened my candidate didn't do well, because all the attention was being given to the top star candidates, so I was a bit depressed when it was all over. It's a long time to be inflated and then have your balloon burst.

The local Obama group was wired. They did a great job, but I never heard much from the Hillary group. Of course, that may be because of the people in charge. Once I declared my candidate, the Hillary people quit calling. Howeer, the Obama group called each week to encourage me to come out and get involved.

That said, it was fun and I appreciated being involved.

8. Sorry, I thought it was obvious from my avatar.
HypnoToad!

And Obama of course.

I just didn't want to rub it in to the Hillary people. Big turnout. Excitement in the air. Hope! I was watching him speak at a rally last night and it was extrordinary. It was on CSPAN and there were callers afterwards. 1 Republican,2 for Hillary and all of the rest were passionately for Obama. Breathless, they'd say again and again about how they never vote, gave up believing but he has inspired them more than anyone ever. The best was that at least twice when they went to the Republican lines 2 were voting for Obama. It was so nice.

But I was gratified to see so many voters so early. No matter who you are voting for it's nice to see you voting.:patriot:

16. Well, we can beat that out of them
they'd say again and again about how they never vote, gave up believing but he has inspired them more than anyone ever.

How dare they be inspired and have hope? Don't they know that's for misguided children. Under the current rules, it's necessary to hold your nose and begrudgingly vote for the "least-worst" candidate. Anything else is unacceptable.

6. If Obama supporters on DU had their way you wouldn't have gotten to feel good today.
They wanted to stop the voting and declare Obama the winner several states ago. They didn't want PA to vote.

10. The primaries don't end just because there's an expected winner
Republicans can still vote today for instance. And last time I had the pleasure of voting for Kucinich even though Kerry was clearly the nominee. If Hillary Clinton wants to drag out her loss that's her problem but even if she pulled out people in PA could have voted for her no one could have stopped that.

I think that she'll even "win" the state but not enough delegates to make up any ground she has to cover so it's really moot as it is anyway. I just got all of these great speeches and commercials because she didn't back out so thanks Hillary. :D

12. "didn't want us to vote"
This line of "didn't want you to vote" from the Hillary campaign is the silliest nonsense imaginable.

17. After Michigan, Florida and the incessant "QUIT HILLARY!" mantra, how were they to take that?
The Obama Camp (With help from Dean) has been pushing to make the PA primary irrelevant for weeks now.

So...it doesn't really sound very silly at all then, does it?

Now let's just let it run and move on from here. We still have an election to win.

19. It's very silly.
As far as our votes being irrelevant here in PA, it happens almost every election. Many candidates are always under pressure in every cycle to quit after Super Tuesday, or not long afterward. This isn't a unique situation.

Michigan and Florida legislatures decided without much in the way of objection that the rules in place weren't good enough for them. The candidates themselves agreed in this case that the rules should be enforced a certain way, and Hillary was just fine with that at the time. Now Hillary supporters want do-overs, or worse, to accept tainted results.

Now we're at a point where Hillary is behind by two touchdowns with a minute to go, she needs to score a touchdown, get the ball back on an onside kick, and score again to go to overtime. But her supporters are acting like a field goal is going to be enough.

14. Me too... but a caveat...
We've had the 'touch screens' in my tiny township in northern Bucks County
since '06....

I had no problem, but the older lady who voted before me forgot to hit the
green button at the bottom that casts the ballot....

and the young man who voted after me (I was waiting for my daughter to finish)
he also forgot to hit the green button when done...

both of them were caught by the poll watcher, who has a light at the back of
the booth to signal that the procedure is finished..

But what if a place is so busy the poll watcher misses it?

I worry about irregularities...

18. Primaries for a year
Now the media would have a contestant drop out because it would make a good news story - BLAH!

Each primary gives more clarity to this ongoing election. I am glad to see that it is working as it should. I would rather have all candidates stay in the race. Just think of what the possibilities might be for Kuchinich or others.

So, I guess I am for public funded elections. Because the president should not be the wealthiest or the person who is good at asking for money. A President needs many more skills.
