War a republican thing? HAH
I just read in yet another ridiculous anti-Hillary thread that war is a republican thing. Where have you been? Do you not know a Democrat started VIETNAM and it took a Republican to end it? What about the Gulf war? How can any sane person say only Republicans start wars?

3. Because it is pretty much them
wanting to get their military complex buddies rich at taxpayers' expense.

5. History lesson
Democrats can be credited with starting the Vietnam War. Democrats certainly took the lead in stopping the slaughter in Kosovo. Other than that, I can't think of a war Democrats started--since 1861, that is. If you're thinking about WW1, WW2, or Korea, blame the Kaiser, Hitler, and Kim Jong-Il respectively. Also, note that none of them were Democrats.

Republicans get part of the blame for the Spanish American War (1898 - mostly optional), Iraq (2003 - entirely optional), Gulf War I (1991 - marginally optional, but well supported), Panama (1989 - useful, but something of a set up), and Granada (1984 - mostly optional).

6. Vietnam or as it was called the " Indochina war" was started in
the early 1950s.

7. Cute, but naive. Ike sent advisors, and JFK increased the number of advisors.

But it was LBJ who actually turned it into an American war fought by American combat units.

There was an earlier war between France and the Viet Minh fought in the early 50s, but Ho kicked the French out by 1954. The actual American part of the war dates to 1964.

9. Dude, use the Wiki
When the French packed it in, Ike sent advisors to the southern, pro-western half of Vietnam. No one doubts it was part of a wider policy of containment (or "imperialism", if you will), but our part in the war--as war--and the actual combat units only came after the authorization with the Tonkin Gulf resolution.

Seriously, they have whole books about this stuff. Read one.
