The Hillary-hating press corps continues to pretend Democrats want her to withdraw
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 11:59 PM by expada
David Broder joins long-time Hillary hater Maureen Dowd in pretending that Democrats want Hillary out of the race.
Tonight David Broder tells us that "many Democrats" are "praying for this divisive campaign to end".

But he conveniently ignores that EVEN MORE DEMOCRATS want Hillary to stay in the race; in fact, they said that even if he had lost PA, she should have continued to run.
59% of Democrats urge her to stay while 39% want her to withdraw, according to this Survey USA poll conducted and released yesterday.

Broder doesn't think for a second about all those millions of Pennsylvanians who cast their votes yesterday either, and who picked Clinton as the nominee. Do they want her to withdraw?

And you know what's funny? some Obama supporters say the media is pro-Hillary. Hehe,

10. The Democratic Underground is not exactly a representative sample of all Democrats
It is actually a very bad sample, since Democrats nation-wide certainly do not back Obama by a 90-10 margin, as is the case here.

3. The longer HRC stays in, the more $$ media makes
Most of the rest of us want the race to come to an end. TV, radio and newspapers are making money from the debacle.

12. No matter how many DU'ers cry "count me", DU is a heavily pro-Obama site; not representative sample
The "count me"'s can go on.

30. You are conflating the public and the party elders.
The media hasn't been saying that the public wants her to withdraw. They've been reporting the same polls as you. They have been saying that there's growing pressure from the party leadership to end this thing, and that's true. See: Howard Dean's statement on the matter to begin with.

The media is neither "pro-Obama" or "pro-Clinton." The media is always enamored with the "new guy" so Obama gets a little bit of a bonus from that. But the media is universally "pro-drama" and "pro-ratings." They want this thing to go all the way to the convention. And occasionally, in a moment of honestly, you'll even hear them say so. They are more than ready to pile on Obama when they smell potential drama. Examples: Wright, Bitter, etc. They pile on Clinton when there is drama too - most particularly there is a lot of drama about her being in the race with a very slim plausible change of getting the nomination.
