When Edwards dropped out I was sad but...
I understood why he was doing it. Sure he could have even won a few more states but he couldn't have won. This is the foundation on which I and so many others are pissed at Clinton. This fight is not about Clinton vs Obama. The GE is NOT a sure thing. I'm sorry if it pisses you off but she cannot win at this point. We keep repeating it because we don't understand how you can support her continuing to divide the Dem party, and continue to hurt our chances in the GE. I'm sure I don't need to repeat the reasoning as to why it's over.

As I've said a thousand times I would have voted for her if she had won. But at this point she's damaging the Dems chances, and yes because I am a Dem I believe that that damages America and the World.

Hillary drop out. Do the right thing. Give us evidence that you actually care about what you say you do.

To my fellow Dem Hillary supporters - I love you. I am glad that you are a Dem and that we agree on 99% of what matters in terms of a direction for this country. I don't expect this post to change any minds but know that I love you and I'm sorry. We all support our candidate because we think they're the best to bring the change that WE ALL agree needs to happen. Please when this thing finally wraps up focus on the issues that we all agree on rather than the personalities that champion those issues... or on the supporters of those candidates.

We all want the same end just through different avenues.

1. Clarify
Edwards could have won a few more states? I'm confused. Did he win any states? I thought his 2nd place finish in Iowa was his best showing, and that he finished 3rd in the rest till he dropped out.

Sorry, Edwards was never a serious candidate.

But good message overall. :)

2. Clinton is not Edwards
This is still a very close race, and despite what all the naysayers say, she can still win it. It isn't over till it's over.

This is certainly no time for her to drop out and she is not hurting the party by staying in. There are an awful lot of people who have invested time and money in her campaign, and she has an obligation to stay in as long as there is a viable chance to win.

Obama cannot and will not be able to win via pledged delegates. Neither of them can. Super delegates and many other delegates are not obligated to vote for any one candidate until the convention. If you really want an end to the primary, you should be asking them both to come together and work something out. I personally believe both of their egos are too big for that, but we'll just have to wait and see.

3. But the SD's can't give it to her unless she wins in delegates
And she can't win in delegates. She simply cannot. Do you think the SD's would ever give it to someone who was down in every measure? I mean really?

And no Edwards didn't win any states but I bet he would have at least picked up a couple!

7. I believe the SDs can give it to whomever they choose.
I read/heard that their guideline is to "vote their conscience". So they probably wouldn't endorse her with the current situation, but I think they COULD, technically.

9. SDs are obligated to pick the candidate who can win the GE
Neither candidate can win with pledged delegates. That part of the primary is essentially over. While the cadidate with the delegate lead is a factor in the SDs decision, it is certainly not the determining factor. Their job is to select the candidate that has the best chance of winning the GE. Polls, electoral votes, popular vote, and leadership ability are all factors in their decision. They are not bound by any particular parameters when making their selection. Those who think a candidate gets the nomination just because they have a few more pledged delegates are sadly mistaken. There is so much more to it than that.

13. Yes...but there's no objective reason to assume Clinton wins the GE when Obama doesn't
People keep asserting their opinions about why Obama can't win as if those opinions were fact. However, the Superdelegates, most of whom of whom have run for and won elective office themselves, likely don't need lessons from the punditry (including DU) on what that requires.

17. Hillary cannot win the GE
Her odds of doing so even before this primary weren't great. If she gets a nomination through intimidation or bribing of super delegates it will be impossible.

With every Republican and 3/4 of the Democrats hating her fucking guts, what exactly would she win?

18. in all measures
Edwards polled better than Clinton or Obama against the Republicans.

Should the superdelegates vote for Edwards?

21. no. they are not obligated to follow any particular line of reasoning
And there's enough information available to see that Obama will be the likely beneficiary of enough SD endorsements to put him over the top. There is little to indicate that Hill is more electable. They match up about the same against McCain. He has more than a few more PDs than Hillary. He has the popular vote lead, and he hasn't alienated lots of SDs by playing dirtball. In the past 3 months, he's received 80 SD endorsements and she's received 9. Anyone who thinks that hill's chances of convincing the SDs to go with her, are anything but slim, is going to be sadly disillusioned.

15. No, she can't 'still win it'. There is NO WAY FOR HER TO WIN IT. And this is where the word delusion
kicks in.

Not to be mean but because it's the word that fits.

Super Delegates are not going to go en masse to her at the Convention.

5. I felt the same way about Bill Richardson...
Hate to see him go. An increasingly pro-gun Democrat with a buttload of UN and foreign policy experience. But it just wasn't the right time for him. Still, we've got a White House to take back from the neo-fascists.

6. Exactly - Narcissistic Personality comes to mind when I think of how Hillary is looking at this!
Someone who suffers from Narcissistic Personality disorder (NPD) has at least 5 of the following characteristics:

http://www.narcissism101.com/

1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
8. is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

11. That's an opinion
...everyone has one. She might just feel obligated to her supporters to do what is necessary to win the nomination. I personally feel she should do whatever it takes, as I feel Obama should do the same for his supporters. This nation is essentially split between the two candidates. It can go either way. We will know when it's over.

16. Wrong! The nation is NOT split between two candidates. Your girl has lost the overwhelming majority
of states and is about 10 points behind Obama in national polls.

19. ?
Obama has insurmountable leads in every valid metric.

Do you honestly believe that the Party Elders are going to tell Obama to move to the back of the bus and give his rightful front seat to the white lady who finished 2nd?

Really?
