We got to see Bill Clinton speak this morning in West Virginia
He was looking fantastic as usual, and the crowd on my college's campus was enormous! Only one lonely Obama supporter stood on the edge of the crowd with an Obama 2008 sign, but he was the only "opposition". He tried to heckle halfheartedly once, but the crowd boo-ed him down, so that was that. Still, I'm glad to see that unlike Dubya, Clinton didn't relegate any Obama supporters to "free speech zones" halfway across town. It's a sad commentary on the state of America that I'm actually *grateful* to see a politician who doesn't try to suppress free speech. *sigh* There were a bunch of the WVU Young Dems there (some of whom I know to be Obama supporters) but they were respectful and welcoming to President Clinton, and just for a moment, it felt like we were all on the same team again.

Anyway, we kept our son home from school so he could attend the rally with us! It's not every day that a child gets the opportunity to see a former Democratic President speak, and we're really glad our son had this chance. We were pleased to get to hear more about Hillary's plans for the nation--the reforms of the student loan program were especially exciting, because that's an issue that (as college students) we've been worried about. One of my best friends (a gay male who's a passionate supporter for Hillary) was lucky enough to get a spot right up front, and he took some fantastic photos. He got a TERRIFIC photo of himself and President Clinton together that I will be forever envious of!

Pics below. :hi:

1. Did Bill insult the Obama supporter and label him an elitist
or does he only do that when Obama people aren't around?

7. Thousands, actually. Not sure exactly how many, though.
It was definitely the largest crowd I've ever personally seen on campus.

:hi:

17. Not here in the "Wild and Wonderful"...
Here, they're pick-up drivin', RedBull drinkin', beer-pong playin' students...

WVU's student body is generally so 'laid back' they might as well be horizontal!

I was thrilled to see the crowd that enthusiastic.

11. I'm not really sure, to be honest.
I was living in Virginia in 2000, so I'm not sure what happened here during that election.

12. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Too bad the childish Obama supporters here had to try to throw cold water on the thread. I know I don't do that when they post about one of their rallies.

18. Obama's professional campaigners just opened an office here... but
so far there's been no real "campaigning", and though Obama has been to Charleston, Beckley, Berkley Springs, and Huntington, he's yet to come to Morgantown at all, nor has he sent anyone else up here to rally his faithful.

Just as well... though many of the students here are all for him, our primary isn't until the 13th, and finals week ends on the 9th, with the dorms and University-owned housing closing down on the 11th.

14. Not to throw cold water
but Clinton looks a bit like Tony Soprano/James Gandolfini in that last picture.

And took my daughter with me.

Fantastic photos too!
