Since when is grace & strength under pressure a sign of weakness? WTF??
For heavens sakes...I've seen more than a few posts deriding Barack for not fighting back more viciously...
WTF over?

I mean who are we... A bunch of schoolchildren who can't settle an argument without a bunch of name calling & angry dust??

Barack has epitomized grace under pressure(I can't use the phrase "grace under fire" Hill has spoiled that terminology for a bit).

This is Stockholm syndrome run large. The ability to make clear & thoughtful decisions is a great & Noble quality-I for one admire it. I think those of you who are on the other side of this need some cocoa & maybe a nap...Watch C-span & decide how you want the agenda set. A neck biting gotcha game or a steady march toward rehabilitating our nations heritage...

15. well, I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree
I think that most people who are not online news junkies like we are, are unaware of the media's corporate bias, and if anything believe the old saw about the "liberal media" which FOX spins. I don't think trying to spread awareness about media issues is a bad thing, if only because information is power. Or can be.

In other words, like I was telling a Republitarian on another board this morning who was defending Bush yet also saying he would be glad to see him go and was unable to come up with anything good from his administration: I told him to learn from his mistakes, and that maybe instead of voting for McCain and later complaining about him, he should instead seek out better information. Not everyone was fooled about Bush, about the war, and about many other things - the info is out there, but requires some seeking.

4. It has been so long since the American people have seen a real President
that they have forgotten how one looks and acts. Here in America it is reply with a smart *ss comment first...think later. That is if you feel like thinking later.

14. Great point...I mean how long HAS it been since Camelot. Many generations have forgotten
Sad that that kind of strength isn't more valued. And you are right-it is due to a lack of role models.

I do think there is a timing/confluence at work here where America is willing to turn the page on the Bozo politics & take-what to them-is a great leap of faith.

It's no leap for me...

5. He is a breath of fresh air. I like him more and more.
The fact he doesn't jump in and start punching. The fact he shows moral fortitude. The fact he sees no need to play "politics as usual." This is a candidate unlike any I have seen in my lifetime, and I am thrilled to be alive to see a leader arise like this. He will make us proud to be Americans again.

e.g. Obama's not 'strong'. Amazing how people can't think outside of the media/right-created memes. Strength = kick 'em in the guts, hit-first-ask-questions-later, Weak = consider negotiating with opposing views, giving the benefit of the doubt etc. Its a simplistic dichotomy that severely limits how most can even think about the concept of real strength. Its also a dichotomy that gave us the tough-guy (read asshole) Bush. Apparently we want another Bush-type in the white house cos hey, he's so strong. I agree with you totally - real strength is quite different, and so much more complex.

By that level of thinking:
Subjecting himself to constant battering with thinly concealed racism = weak.
Speaking out on one of the biggest societal issues that most would avoid - race = weak
Talking to AA parents about the necessity of being good parents = weak
Talking to the automotive industry about the need to cut our oil dependency = weak
Telling those that are struggling economically that they can't have their gas tax-holiday = weak

Go figure.

8. Ever since Hill-Rod forsakes her ovaries for testes and abuses alcohol like frat boys.
Yes, she's "a manly woman" in all the ways Rush Limbaugh can court right wingers to vote for her in The Primaries.

Operation CHAOS is alive and well.

All those years of privilege and power have deluded "The Clintons" into believing that they COULD be voted into office.

NOT A F**kING CHANCE!

Part of me secretly wishes she'd CHEAT her way to the Democratic Nomination. However, I love The American People much more than I despise the hubris of The vile behaving Clintons.

9. Not controlling any news cycle for over a month isn't "grace & strength". Your bogus
rainbow and unicorns non-existent reality fails to take the effects of having Obama not able to assert himself.

12. I think some people have
bought into the George Bush/Right wing version of tough, which is more of a reflection on them. It's silly how people have been trained to equate bullying and fake machismo as "tough" because we've seen time and time again how those "tough" talkers actually fold when it matters and nobody's paying attention.

I agree with you, give me Barack's style of tough any day of the week. People who do not think of the consequences of their actions talk tough, react tough, and usually make STUPID mistakes in the process.
