McCain, Hillary, and MSM thinks Americans are Stupid.
This gas tax holiday is a total sham. The pundits keep saying, well, of course it's a bad idea, but people don't care about that. People don't care that they will only reap about $30 from this tax holiday. People don't "get into the weeds" over things like that. All they care about is what "can you do for me".

This just proves that these elitists don't think Americans are smart enough to figure out that even though they may get a small break in the short term, that it actually hurts us in the long term. They think people are so dumb, that they will just drool and tap dance for a measly 30 bucks.

They are relying on people not knowing that this is actually just a windfall for oil companies. Hillary knows she will never get a windfall tax placed on oil companies. She is just peddling that as some sort of justification for raiding the transportation fund and putting thousands of construction workers out of work.

Nevermind the fact that this is actually drives up demand and prices, making the price per barrel skyrocket. What happens when the gas tax holiday ends? Now we are in worst shape than we were before.

This is insulting to the nth degree. They are touting this gas tax holiday as if it is some life altering thing. People would save $30 for the year. Big fucking deal. There isn't any guarantee that the savings will even be passed on to the consumer.

What happens when they take the tax off, more people fill up more often, and the gas companies just raise the price to meet demand? Now you're back at the same price you were at before, but now, once the gas tax holiday ENDS, you are in worse shape.

This is a STUPID idea. She followed McCain's stupid idea on a gas tax holiday, added a little glitter (windfall tax), and expects people to call it a fucking gift.

Give me a break.

3. I have a question re truckers
How much would it save them, over the course of a summer? I saw a trucker on the news who paid over $1000 to fill up his tank.

I'm not really sure what I think about the tax holiday - I really have no opinion of it either way, because other than what I'm seeing with food prices, gas prices barely affect me, we drive a fuel efficient car, and I ride the bus with a subsidized pass most of the time - so I'm asking this question out of pure curiousity.

5. So give the discount to licensed truckers, in their big rigs.
Edited on Fri May-02-08 03:14 PM by cliffordu
telling the voters that people will lose their jobs due to lack of gas as she did, is bullshit.

7. I'm just asking a question
My point is that some people might actually save enough to matter. I don't care about it one way or the other.

9. But it was a serious question.
Gas prices don't matter to me. But truckers have been beset; they can't make it. Could it, for example, save a big rig a couple of thousand dollars over the course of a summer?

12. I bet those truckers pay alot of road workers salaries..
Giving tax breaks to truckers will cause lay offs for thousnads of people..
This one is a hard call.. Truckers do need some kind of tax break though.

15. But this is the problem: There is no guarantee that oil companies will
pass the savings on to the consumer. They can pocket the money, keep the price at the current price, and claim that higher demand and limited supply requires the price be raised. It's a sham. And to top it off, the gas companies don't pay any taxes on it. They get to raid the transportation fund and put thousands of people out of work.

This so-called windfall tax won't get passed. Do you think Bush would sign it? Get real.

17. Oh, I agree with that. I think it's a nice idea to kick the tax to the oil companies
But they, and Bush, would find a loophole. As I said, I don't really have an opinion on this tax either way.

Getting rid of corporate tax loopholes would solve a lot of our problems in a jiffy.

6. They're right though
These are the same people that went for Bush in 2004 and care about flag pins. If that's not stupidity what is it?

Of course, that's not everyone. But I'd say it's most.

13. That begs the question whether most Americans really are stupid
Seems to me the record shows unequivocally that, on policy matters such as this they are at the very least, willfully ignorant.

14. They know Americans are stupid
Edited on Fri May-02-08 03:27 PM by Cali_Democrat
They KNOW Americans are stupid and this kind of thing will get blind support. They're simply taking advantage of our stupid electorate. Any electorate that would vote for Bush twice is dumb as shit.Maybe Obama could learn a thing or two instead of being so gawd damn honest.

America has already moved on and Hillary will be left behind clinging to her old politics.
