1. And I propose that all the anti Hillary pictures be taken down.
Posters who go out of their way to find growling, ugly pictures of her just for fun should be made to stop.

2. It's a question of Obama's veracity and judgment
It's simply implausible that a Columbia University and Harvard Law graduate is oblivious to the nature of his intimate relations and surrounding for twenty-years.

Calling it race-baiting is a cheap cop-out.

The best defense is a good offense... Don't let them make an issue of it, instead find another issue and use it against them... That is how the game is played.....

Edited on Sun May-04-08 03:34 PM by IntravenousDemilo
"Senator McCain, I understand from George W Bush that you fathered an illegitimate black child. Is this true?"

"My friend, I..."

"It must be true, right? Since then-Governor Bush said that back in 2000, in the intervening years you've been observed embracing both his body and his policies."

"I don't have a black chi..."

"You wouldn't do that if it were a lie, would you? And you wouldn't be friendly towards him if he'd spread vicious rumours, surely?"

"But..."

"So which is it? Do you a) agree with the President's conduct of the war and the way he's handled the economy AND have an illegitimate black child, or do you b) disagree with said conduct and handling AND NOT have an illegitimate black child?"

At this point, his head might explode with bad temper, and everyone will get to see the real John McCain.

He has had cancer and is 71.. I would question whether he can even be a President for four years... Bad form, but that is politics, is it not....

27. Oh, yes, the age thing. McCain is WAY TOO FUCKING OLD TO BE PRESIDENT!!!
This fact must be stressed, pounded, and drilled into the electorate over and over throughout the campaign. We always used to make fun of the Soviet-style gerontocracy during the 1970s, and for very good reason -- these people were ancient, out of touch with the populace, and probably a little fidooey in the head. Then senile old Reagan came along, and suddenly it wasn't funny anymore, but downright tragic, mostly because normally intelligent people lapped up his diarrhoea as if it were sweet cream and asked for seconds in 1984.

20. It won't stop
I kind of wonder . . . if his education, polish, speech is really what it is. I.E. Black/bi-racial men are supposed to have gold teeth and speak 'gangsta'.

The fact of the matter is that no one holds Byrd's past against him. They don't hold the fact that Clinton was a Goldwater girl against her - or that just a year ago she was in a "Goldwater is Great Documentary". This was the man that allow me to paraphrase said, "Forget the blacks. We don't need them, can't keep them happy."

I wonder if Hillary realizes she can't win without us? I really don't think that there's going to be a ground swell of Right Wing Blue Collar Middle Aged White Male Republicans that are going to wake up one Tuesday and in November and say, "I don't hate her anymore."

My point in this is that it won't stop until Hillary stands up and calls the media to the floor on it. But, then that would be disavowing herself of Goldwater and heaven forbid she do that.

28. Last time I looked
this site was still called Democratic Underground, and is not yet officially Obama Underground. Until it is, I don't think it is up to you to make the rules.

I do however, think that what is out of hand is the constant reference to the supporters of Senator Clinton as being racists. Senator Clinton is NOT a racist, President Clinton is NOT a racist and those of us on this board who support her are NOT racists.

You may not like it, but the simple fact that someone doesn't support Senator Obama does NOT make him or her a racist!

I, however do not make the rules either, so you are perfectly free to keep up your name calling, offensive as it is.

31. Does anyone think if Wright were white anyone would be paying this much attention to him
It is really disturbing that Hillary supporters are depending on the racism of people for their candidate to win. That is really what it comes down to, and it is disgusting. You can try to say it is about Obama's judgment and all this other stuff, but the palin and simple truth is that if Obama's pastor were white and said the same things, people wouldn't be interested. Are people here that naive that they ACTUALLY believe it has nothing to do with race. I know the official line is that all this attention on Wright has nothing to do with race, but does anyone actually believe it. I am in Independent, but it amazes me how many democrats are willing to sacrifice so many valuable principles just so their candidate can run for president. It really is no better than what Bush did. IF HRC gets the nomination, MCCain will be president.

37. Yes...I am bitter...
I might have understood this shit being used in 1968, but in 2008, it is very disturbing to see race used as a pawn to move around as wanted to produce a desired effect. All the separateness that is being pushed in this Primary season reminds me of Iraq. The divide and conquer approach. I am happy to see, that it has not been very effective, but it still is frightening to me. I'm reminded of Julius Streicher on a regular basis.

Many religious leaders have damned America. That Wright is black made this resonate with many who needed a reason to "want" to distrust Obama while the likes of White Evangelicals fly under the radar.
