I just planted arugula in my veggie garden.
Does this make me an elitist? Or do the peas and carrots counteract any elitism emanating from the arugula?

I planted all the leafy greens together. Will the arugula's elitist attitude corrupt the lettuces and the spinach? As an Asian vegetable, is the bok choi immune to the elitism?

Now that I think about it, what do the rest of my crops say about me? Corn, tomatillos, strawberries, marionberries, raspberries, cucumbers, potatoes, oregano, lavender, spearmint, thyme, rosemary...Holy crap, what kind of messages am I sending to my neighbors?

1. In my garden, arugula is a weed that gets composted. People who eat weeds are a little sad, maybe...
not elitists ;-)

2. You'll seed anything, plant anything, to get a garden.
Can't trust people like that, ya know. ;)

10. Keeps me in salsa verde all year round, my friend!
Although they are quite fickle. They don't always sprout where I planted them. Not sure what that's about.

17. Hmmm...now that you mention it...
They do seem to be...wandering. I will fence them in and document them to make sure that there are no more incursions!

5. You *say* you've planted lavender, but can the Lavender Community really believe you?
Every Democratic gardener claims to plant lavender, but when harvest time comes around, there is always some excuse as to why there is no lavender anywhere to be seen. Assuming, of course, that the gardener bothers to even make excuses.

You will pardon me for taking a "wait and see" attitude about your garden.

:hi:

problem would likely be elitist bunnies...

9. You're planting a garden? That raises issues (with or without the arugula.)
Edited on Sun May-04-08 04:10 PM by smalll
I'd say, if you're someone with an agiricultural background (farming's in the family) or if you're English, planting a garden is a good, solid, "real people" kind of activity. If you're neither of those however, it comes off a little elitist. ;)

We don't know if you are just trying to make a point. It's easy to say anything online.

21. You could come to
regret this decision if you ever run for President. You should've taken a poll to see how "white working class males" feel about this first. Now not only your elitism is an issue for you, but so is your judgment. The GOP will have a field day with you. Quick plant some turnip or mustard greens to get the good ole' boy vote back in your corner!

26. As amusing as the arugula line was made out to be, if farmers
want to make a decent living, they'll explore the growing of "them elitist greens" the city restaurants buy. Doesn't take much space and you can charge double the price of ordinary iceburg lettuce.
