A remark by a Clinton supporter got me wondering ...
If Hillary did not get the Democratic nomination and decided to make an independent run would the Hillary Democrats support her or support the Democratic Candidate? Given that the various blogs and messageboards that back Hillary's supporters openly encourage members not to vote Democrat and lie about that, is such a possibility unbelievable?

3. I doubt it will gain traction
I've heard this for years, from Dean and Clark supporters claiming they would write in their candidates in 2004.

If anything, Clinton would remain quiet and run a covert operation to help McCain win. We know that Clinton still wants to run in 2012, and wants to remain viable with Democrats.

6. Hard core supporters, probably some of them would leave with her
Others have more party loyalty. Average voters just vote, though, and don't get into these insider dramas. I doubt it would be as big a deal as they like to think.

7. To go along with this, I'd have to assume Senator Clinton *lied* when she said she'd work her heart
out for the Democratic nominee.

11. To believe that, I'd have to believe ...
... she had a heart. (I think Cheney's using it right now.)

12. By thre time November rolls around the vast and overwhelming majority of Clinton
supporters will vote for Obama.

Think about it. Most of her supporters (except for the operation chaos folks) are long time Democrats. They always vote Democratic. Humans are creatures of habit.

These good Dems aren't going to sit home and let McCain continue the bush era. They aren't going to let Roe v Wade go down. They aren't going to let McCain stack the courts.

Some of them may say they will now, in the heat of the primary battle, but when they watch the GE and think about what they want, they will come home and vote for the parties nominee.

13. Technically she can't run as an independent in this election cycle......
it's already to late to get her name on the ballot in a good portion of the states. If anyone is running for President as an Independent, they have to have the prerequisites met. X amount of signature per district in many states, plus a filing fee.
