Why does anyone care that wright said 9/11 was partly the U.S.'s fault, Ron Paul said the same ....
thing and no one freaked out over his saying it. ?

sorry no text, but i recall him saying it in a debate.

2. Because we all KNEW that Ron Paul was a lunatic.
When we hear someone otherwise respected say something like that, it makes people's ears perk up. But when Ron "black men are semi-criminal" Paul says something outrageous, it's just par for the course.

Let's put this a different way: If you see a homeless guy shouting at invisible beings, do you think that's unusual? If you saw the principal of your child's school doing it, though, that's a different story entirely, right?

3. I'll go further than Wright and say that 9/11 is almost entirely our fault, not just "partly".
His chickens coming home to roost comment was spot on, but not direct enough for the brain dead people that still think we're hated for our freedoms. Wright assumed those people, and those who know better but need a weapon, would actually think. Always a gamble.
