Clinton: "Why don't we hold these Wall Street money-grubbers responsible for their role.."

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/05/clinton_hits_moneygrubbers_at.html

INDIANAPOLIS--Sen. Hillary Clinton appealed directly to Indiana's middle-class voters tonight at a state Democratic Party fundraising event, invoking the Hoosier state's top sporting event as a call to action.

"With the Indy 500 right around the corner, let me ask you Indiana Democrats, are you ready to start your engines and get America going again?"

Paying homage to a state she must win on Tuesday, Clinton said, "Hoosiers are the kind of hard working people that keep this country going and growing. And it is time you had a president who knows that middle-class Americans are the backbone of this economy and the guarantor of the American dream."

Ratcheting up her populist-themed, us-against-them rhetoric, Clinton, who with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, reported earnings of $109 million over the last seven years, said: "Why don't we hold these Wall Street money-grubbers responsible for their role in this recession?"

2. Why didn't YOU hold yourself responsible for siding with and protecting BushInc all these years?
Gee, Hillary - you never took on Bush and Rove and would not LEAD any effort to oppose Bush on his policies and attacks on Dems for 7 YEARS!

You expect us to believe you mean to oppose those policies NOW?

14. I thought that was a code phrase for "Jews"
But how about December 8th, 2006 when Imus himself referred to the “Jewish management” at CBS as “money-grubbing bastards”?

http://www.rogouski.com/blog/cultural-criticism/2007/04/

At this point, the show’s executive producer, Bernard McGuirk, a regular on-air presence, said of the Blind Boys, “Even if you wear a beanie, how can you not love these guys?”

“I tried to put it in terms that these money-grubbing bastards could understand,” Imus replied. “I said: ‘They’re handicapped, they’re black and they’re blind. How do we lose here?’ And then a light bulb went off over their scummy little heads.”

http://www.forward.com/articles/imus-cbs-bosses-money-grubbing-jews/

we need to remind ourselves what anti-Semitism--the real thing--has actually looked like over the centuries. It had (and has) nothing to do with Israel or Zionism, but was rather a prototypical racist stereotyping, by means of which the alleged traits of certain individuals--"money-grubbing," "pushiness," moral degeneracy--are transformed via the alchemy of paranoid fantasy into the collective persona of "Jews" or "the Jew."

Although the topic was put in the center of their political work rather recently, today`s nazi conception of capitalism associates directly with the ideology of National Socialism and follows the same reactionary and dipolar world view. On the one hand, this view contains the idea of a national economy and it´s “honest, German” labor - the so-called “constituting capital”; and the “money grubbing, Jewish” capital on the other hand.

Or maybe Jew is a word we still choke on and don't want tagged to our newest American hero. Danny Pearl was no dirty, money-grubbing, baby-eating, Christ- and Palestinian-killer. He was an everyday "just doing his job" kind of hero.

"The Jews of Temple Beth Sholom are sinful, greedy, Hell-bound, money-grubbing sodomites; and they have dedicated their synagogue to be a gay and lesbian propaganda mill and recruiting depot, soliciting young people to sodomy."
--Rev. Fred Phelps

You knew who Buchanan was talking about, for example, during the week of the Iowa straw poll when he blamed the farm crisis on "New York bankers" and "the money boys up in New York."

He didn't say "money-grubbing kikes," but it was there, lurking in the subtext.

16. yep, Google
"Money-grubbing" in quotes plus any other keyword or phrase (say "Wall Street") yields a fairly comprehensive catalog of modern anti-semitism. It's not a shocker coming from Hillary as she outdoes Pat Buchanan on the right-wing populism front, but you'd think she wasn't elected to represent Wall Street and all the other benighted streets in Stepping Stone City.
