Edited on Tue May-06-08 02:06 PM by ProudToBeLiberal
While talking to a trio of men eating breakfast, one handed him the bill. "This will seal the thing,'' he said.
Obama accepted it, and later took it to the cashier and paid it.

edit- Sounds like a typical politician.

5. I'm saying Obama is your average politician
people keep saying he's a transformative candidate and that he's different from your average politician. Wrong! Even you admit what he's doing is what a typical politician does during campaigning.

Give it a rest. He's never halo'd himself as anything. He's a candidate who has to sell himself to voters as all of them must.

You're grasping

13. I don't believe that transformative means that ALL ever done by politicians
since the beginning of the Republic goes out the window. Meeting voters in the flesh certainly should not. Secretive negotiations without the people involved, accepting money from interest group lobbyists, proposing gimmicks that will never pass and would come way late, and using fear of anykind to get elected are some of what indeed needs to go.

Obama is not your "average" politician, and you saying it doesn't make it so. He is an above average politician who believes in bottom up grassroots and not making personal attacks based on degrees of guilt via association. I wish all politicians operated that way.

48.  I do not support McCain but your statement is delusional.
We cannot hope to win unless we respect the fact thast whoever the nominee is will have opposition. Many GOP folks who say that they won't vote for McCain will in fact do so. The GOP in my Congressional District outvoted ALL the Dems in the primary 3 to 1 and they all voted for McCain who they say they hate. Go figure but if we undervalue the competition in the GE we do so at our peril.

34. My understanding is he came up fighting the Daly machine.
As a community organizer he ran into roadblocks from the machine, and worked to overcome them to empower the people he represented. His ability to take on the machine and remain clean and effective is what got him noticed in the first place.

23. What do you want him to do - throw it back in the guy's face?
I thought handing Obama the bill and saying he should pay for the guy's breakfast was rather rude, but perhaps the customer didn't like having his daily routine disturbed by the traveling circus. What are you gonna do.
