HRC: "The soldiers and the veterans..."
Oh man. I wonder if she even knows she pissed off the Navy and the Marines?

1. What happened?
:shrug:

Did she say that in her speech? I only heard a portion of it.

6. My guess
is that the OP means that not all veterans are soldiers. In the Navy they are called sailors and in the Air Force they are airmen or airwomen.

7. At one point in Hillary's speech tonight, quoted above, she offended 3/4 of our armed services.

Soldiers=Army.
Marines=Marines.
Sailors=Navy.

13. Dont forget the coast guard and merchant marines and the
civil air patrol for Christs sake. Is this the best example of why people hate HRC? Isn't there something more to the hate? I mean isn't this just a pimple on a gnats ass?

16. I think we veterans are used to such conflation by now.
As an ex-Army sergeant, I'm offended that any Marine, sailor or airman would be honored with the name "soldier," and will only grudgingly concede on "military." :7

Seriously, though, it's been going on for decades, and is especially understandable in a protracted land war. I bear no particular animus toward Clinton for this common error. If she'll end the goddamned war, she can call me Marine!

12. No, common mistake among people who don't know anybody who has served.
Or been corrected by them.

This is boot camp drill, that "my part is special and it has this name".

There's pride attached to that name.

5. Can you expand on that at all?
I watched her speech tonight, but by the time she gave it, I was getting pretty loopy from hours and hours of primary watching.

9. I don't feel pissed off
this "mistake" happens quite frequently. And besides this ex sailor could care less. I hate the special treatment given to veterans and soldiers anyway. For draft era victims i have more sympathy but not for volunteers. It is only a job and not worthy of the prima donna status politicians try to give it. But the is just my opinion.

15. This EXmarine isn't pissed at her. I just hold her in contempt.
Which has nothing to do with the 4 seemingly endless years I spent in the Crotch.
