* * * A Salute to Senator Clinton * * *
This is how I shall remember you:

You may not realize this but, when the history is told, you will be among the pioneers of human achievement. You have solidified the equality of the female sex. Because of your successes as both First Lady and presidential candidate, you have proven that women will no longer suffer second-class status. You have forged the road on which all of us will travel. Equal as humans, equally important.

You have been to the mountain top and have seen the promised land. Generations after you will praise your tenacity and bravery and will honor your journey. You have led all of us to a better tomorrow.

Here's to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. First Lady of the United States. First viable female candidate for the Executive Office of America. You deserve recognition and praise. You will be remembered for all time. You will always be one that changed everything.

6. We've Come A Long Way and I'm proud to have lived in this time in history.
When I was a teenager in the early 50's I would have never believed we as women, could get this far. I was raised in a time that most females had two choices, become a secretary or get married. Now the sky is the limit and I am proud to say I have been on this journey. Say what "they" want Hillary, I have been proud to have been in your corner!

I'm past the bitterness, even though I did not agree with
some of their conduct, I think Hillary fought a really tough battle, and she is to be commended for her tenacity. How she managed to always look bright and fresh is amazing.

Now...let's get in GE mode focus energies on defeating OldMan McInsanity and rally around our Democratic Nominee! :applause:

21. I'm with you- I am angry and so disappointed in both of them
I had such respect and admiration for them both and was so excited in the beginning, about the possibility of having her be our President. They are both brilliant and she had so much potential- -but she/they displayed qualities in this campaign that made me loose all of my admiration for them- both of them and that makes me sad, angry and hugely disappointed. I too hope to get past this and appreciate them for how much they do have to offer our country and how much each they have and have the potential to contribute to making a difference. For women, for working people, for children for the planet (the W J Clinton Foundation is doing phenomenal things)--- let's see how they handle this moving forward...

44. Why? What did she do?
Because she is trying to win the nomination and refuses to just hand it over to a relatively unknown who just waltzes in and expects the nomination because he is black and the media loves him? I am disappointed in many Obama supporters who spew such hate and the media that spun, hyped, and actually lied about the Clintons on the campaign trail and the numerous black voters who bought into the spin and who continue to use the race card to clobber anyone who is against or who criticizes Obama. Many of them have turned against their own chooosing to demonize long-time civil rights activists, entertainers and public officials who dared to support Hillary. These are the folks that disappoint me and I am black & white.

47. She cheated. She lied. She did everything possible to destroy Obama
(including party treason by putting McCain ahead of him during a conversation about experience), she's demanding that they seat the FL and MI delegates completely ignoring the DNC rules (you don't change the rules AFTER the game has been played), she "hinted" that Obama might not be a Christian in interviews (not stating anything definate but giving enough of a hint to make people wonder- not that it matters anyway really what religion anyone is), she would not let the Rev. Wright issue go away (but never mentioned that during the Monica drama, Wright was one of the religious persons called to the White House to give counsel to Bill), she deliberatly tried to knee cap Obama totally disregarding that the possibility could exsist that he might win and that by doing so she could be making it easier for McCain to win- need more?

25. I don't think Hillary will quit before June 3rd
There is a case for saying it is good for the party if every state gets a chance to vote and every voter gets to choose between at least 2 candidates. Better to have people voting for Hillary than voting against Obama (if he is the only candidate remaining in the race).

But if the Clintons are out of cash then maybe she will have no choice.

26. I remember everything
I remember the "concern" over whether or not this degree-bearing woman was worthy of the designation, "First Lady". I remember the very real backlash against her "type". Hillary Clinton is the reason that we, as a country, will accept a college-educated First Lady such as Michelle Obama.

We stand on the shoulders of giants. Hillary Rodham Clinton is one of those Giants.

29. You make it sound like she's washed up, gone ...
She's still a U.S. senator. That ain't a bad gig.

Vice Prez might be a step down. I'd be surprised if she accepted. If she's offered the spot privately and turns it down privately, we may never know of it. It'll only be publicly offered if acceptance is a done deal.

I doubt it'll be offered.

31. History only records the winners
We've had a woman on the ticket before, as Veep. That's pretty much forgotten.

If she wants to be remembered historically, let her introduce legislation to nationalize health care, or end the war.

Yes, Congresswoman Ferraro holds her bookmark in history as the first female Vice Presidential candidate. The point is that Senator Hillary Clinton will be among those noted for directly influencing the furtherance of civilization.

41. "influencing the furtherance of civilization"?
That's a tall order.

If she can be the primary mover of a successful effort to install universal single-payer health care, then I'd say she "furthered civilization". Or if she somehow got the war ended.

Anything less, and she's "Just Another Officeholder", maybe doing more good than bad, but not very significant.

I am a little let down this morning but Barack is a good man and its now time for all us to get behind him and make sure he is out next president. It was a hard fought battle but I hope now we can turn our sights on grampy mcinsane. She would have made a good president but now we need to make sure Barack makes a great president. She has a great senate career ahead of her and can be a great force in getting many things done with President Barack.

Thank you Senator Clinton. The work has just begun.

I am very proud I voted for her here in PA, and I will always be glad I did it. I will, of course, vote for Obama in the general, but I do wish it was Hillary - I would have loved to cast my vote for her as the first woman president.

39. She has shown her strength
Lovely in blue. Our country and society is so focused on appearance and personality. I remember when presidential campaigns were run on the "platform", the issues were what was center of the discussion. We have become a society focused on external features sort of like what teenagers do. The concept that people will win based upon their appearance or what they wear on a given day.

I think Hillary Clinton has done a great deal to awaken the slumbering masses as to the abilities of a woman. It is like the quip - men dance but, woman do it in reverse and in high heels. Women must work twice as hard to accomplish anything. AND when they do win they are then criticized for taking it away from a man.

Lest we forget there have been other women who have achieved the head of state is other countries.

and I will remember "spade work," "as far as I know," and "Why, yes, Jeremiah Wright is a legitimate campaign issue" among others.

I will remember Geraldine Ferraro and Bill Clinton. I will remember the deafening silence from Sen. Clinton as destructive and divisive non-issues were allowed to dominate the "conversation" that she was supposedly so intent on having with the American people.
