Bringing them back into the fold
How do we get the Hillary supporters back into the fold?

Here is my suggestion. We fund big rallies across the US for Hillary. But in reality...

We serve punch. The punch is spiked with Kool-aid, but they will never suspect it, because the punch bowls will have big signs on them saying "Does NOT contain Kool-Aid". This will fool them all.

Then we show videos with Hillary, but with subliminal messages to vote for Obama. Eventually the videos fade into full-blown hypnosis sessions. The audience goes into a trance, and we implant the idea that they now are a part of the Obama movement.

They will all walk out of the rallies glassy-eyed, drooling, and droning "Obama Obama Obama Obama..."

LOL -- Just kidding!!! The above is making fun of how some Hillary supporters view us -- just poking some fun at ourselves.

But seriously -- what is to be done?

Perhaps pointing out that the ideological positions of the candidates are not that far apart?
Assuming that many Hillary supporters really wanted a woman President, pointing out that a McCain Presidency would be disastrous for the Women's Movement in the country.
Pointing out the hugely critical issue of Supreme Court appointees.
Admitting that some over-exuberant Obama supporters have gone overboard in attacking Hillary, but noting that Obama himself purposely avoided this at almost all costs.

The largest argument of the Hillary supporters was that Hillary is more electable than Obama. We have to avoid negatives in this regard, but need to emphasize the strengths of Obama in terms of electability. If we start up pissing contests in this regard, then we lose the Hillary supporters.

Just some ideas...

6. Well, this brings up a point...

Obama certainly needs to hammer away on the economic issues that affect the core Hillary constituencies. Then maybe they will turn our way.

It's the economy, stupid!
And what is hosing the economy worse than anything? It's the Iraq war, stupid.
And who is fueling the war? The massive corporate interests running DC, stupid.

(No, rug, I'm not calling you stupid -- just using the old Bill Clinton slogan).

4. What Obama does
is separate from what his supporters do. I trust that he'll try to do the right thing, but his supporters won't. They'll continue to insult us, try to destroy our candidate, and spread vicious lies about her.

5. Perhaps you could start by not being so condescending.
That might be a start.

7. I would assume that virtually anything I would say in this regard
would be viewed as condescending by you. So I will ignore this.

8. For Hillary supporters who know what the Obama campaign did
-- the co-opting of right-wing created perceptions - the surreptitious character assaults, the vile accusations and slander of race-baiting - destruction of the Clintons legacy.

"How do we get the Hillary supporters back into the fold?"

For many who know about these things, I doubt there's much you can do.

Obviously, in this regard, information is your enemy - Focus on the uninformed is your best bet.

9. How about just being respectful and not viewing us as the enemy?
Oh yes.... and the thread after thread after thread screaming about what a racist you-know-what Hillary is.... that isn't helpful.

The race is almost over. Obama will most likely win. So be happy.

Stop with the threads ripping Hillary apart and just enjoy the fact that it looks like you are going to win.

Stop with the condensation and attacks against Hillary supporters and just be happy.

Your camp (the you and yours in this thread are directed at the big you and not you personally)should be relaxing and enjoying the moment rather then doing everything possible to drive away a big part of the base.

That is for starters.

And if a Hillary supporter is being an ass, just alert or ignore, it's not like a good portion haven't already been banned.
