1. Unfortunate. Wrong. Hate to see it. However...
This year, it's time for us to suck it up and deal. Otherwise, it's four more years of President George W. Bush.

3. It may be peripherally related,
but years ago I wanted to protect an outdoor bird's baby and nest from predator cats with razor wire. When I tried to purchase it, the fencing company told me that it was illegal for me to use in areas zoned for homes, that it was prohibited by local ordinance (i.e., the government).

But, if they (the government) want to use razor wire . . . there are no legal barriers standing in their way.

6. True,

8. Sorry, but I think it's up to the Secret Service (Ashcroft), not Kerry
personally, i think they are just setting the bar unusually high so they can crack down hard on protesters at the repuke convention next month.

18. If so, Kerry should make a statement to distance himself from it.
I hope it's the other side but the people need to know it.

9. I don't want to hear ANYONE..
saying that this is acceptable for our convention, and "disgusting/restrictive/fascist" when the same thing happens to GOP convention protestors.

The free speech zone is anti-Democratic and wrong. The last I checked anti-WTO protestors weren't the ones flying planes into buildings. We shouldn't be treating people like terrorists because they have a controversial opinion. And this is coming from someone who thinks the anti-WTO protestors are naive and wrong. Still, I believe (and the party should believe) in a country where we have a vigiorus debate. If only we had a debate before we went to war with Iraq...

Probably not tonight, but sometime in this campaign, Kerry should make it clear that he opposes free speech zones.

14. Well put
I doff my hat to you, sir!

I too am appalled at the lengths some of the party bigwigs have gone to promote "unity".

Unity means not only being united, but also "agreeing to disagree" at times, too. Apparently this subtlety has been lost on many Democrats this year.

Tragic.

Going on at this moment by antiwar activists.
There's a nice piece on this in other places.

We ARE still against WAR , aren't we?

16. Yes, we are.
I am not happy about this at all. I will not defend it. And I sure as hell won't participate in partisan hypocrisy; it's not ok now, and it won't be ok at the repug convention, either.

What a weapon that sort of hypocrisy that gives the Bush campaign.

15. Sorry but ..... BOO F-ING HOO!
People died today in Iraq, and were bitching because our protests are in an isolated area so that terrorists can't strap a pipe bomb to themselves and blow up Democrats?

Give me a friggin break.
