1. Probably.
These folks obviously like to be pandered to, and are proud of their racial pureness.

12. You want to lose this fall don't you? "Those folks"would be Republicans if they were like that.
Shame on people who try to embarrass and threaten and intimidate Democratic voters. When McGovern's people did this to Humphrey's African-American supporters in 1972, the Blacks stayed home in the fall. You want to call them "those folks"?

16. The GOP will drag this quote out so quick if Hillary could even be the Nominee....
Till it ain't even funny.

"Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."-- Hillary Clinton
http://www.americablog.com/2008/04/hillary-clinton-on-working-class-white.html

Then they'd show this video of her "close" surrogate, and demand that she denounce and renounce him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXum_-8I1TA

Then, they would show the pic of her and Rev. Wright....and Bill and Rev. Wright.

In otherwords, they would show what a big hypocrite Hillary is, and she would lose....especially since she's not getting a whole lot of the "new" voters, the AA voters, and the Indies.

Talk about losers.

27. That is tame compared to the stuff by Obama supporters they can choose from.
I hope that you are working on some strategies for the general election to use to give Sen. Obama some teflon to replace "race." I have noticed (especially recently) that some things the people write or say that Obama supporters do not like become "racist" in an attempt to shut down discussion. This only works in the Democratic Primary because your opponents are not racist and therefore, they will pause and think to themselves "Did what I just write or say sound racist? Should I say it a different way?"

This kind of attack is particularly effective in preventing other Democrats from citing demographic data such as polling data that shows which groups vote which way and in which numbers and which groups may or may not cross over or stay home (since any division, even by gender or education or income can be twisted as being racist) Also any such discussions can be twisted to imply a value judgment about the groups even though the real purpose is a mathematical calculation devoid of value judgment---i.e the election is about achieving a winning total in which a vote is a vote.

Once the dialog becomes sufficiently muddled, it becomes impossible to have a discussion of electability, which is supposed to be the function of the Super Delegates. With this avenue of discussion shut down as being taboo, that leaves the Super Delegates only one task---to vote the way that the delegates vote.

This strategy has been used for other purposes, as well. You will find that it's success is limited in the general election. Republicans are more likely to seek to provoke such accusations so that they can pounce upon them to demonstrate to their own constituencies that Obama is running a divisive campaign. They will not feel embarrassed or ashamed when the charge is leveled at them frivolously---or even when the charge has merit for that matter.

18. If it's racist to live in a state with virtually nonexistent minority groups,
then what does that make the citizens of a large number of African states?

But keep talking. It'll only serve to make the loss even bigger for Obama.

33. Double-speak.....

"These folks obviously like to be pandered to, and are proud of their racial pureness."

Obama received app. 98% of the black vote in NC. I suppose that means blacks are also proud of thier racial pureness. All this is, is a reminder to Clinton supporters that they don't need them in the GE. That with those kneeling at the alter, plus the millions of republicans they believe are going to abandon their own genuine racism, and hatred of democrats, will be enough to sweep Obama to victory in the fall. They don't even try to hide their hipocracy any more. Thanks.

and he has a larger potential for widening his voter base than Hillary Clinton has at this point.

2. He's only lost 8 states by double digits
44 pts Arkansas
24 pts Oklahoma
18 pts Rhode Island
17 pts New York
16 pts Florida
15 pts Massachusetts
13 pts Tennessee
10 pts Ohio

I see no difference between WV, KT and AR...no big deal.

7. Ohio's revised number
was something like 8.8%, so not a double-digit loss

I read a stat a couple weeks ago that said that 3/4s of Hillary's losses were by 16 points or more. 75% of them folks! 16 points is like 2 landslides in 1.

13. Any black person who tells you he's comfortable in WV
is lying. I'm not saying that it's a racist state, so don't read that into my statement. I think it's important to differentiate between racism and other types of ignorance due to the lack of interaction with certain groups of people.

15. I don't understand
why if they are tilted that far for Hillary, those (bozos, morons, racists, trailer trash, or whatever knew slur you want to use) "clearly have issues." Why don't the people in states that Obama won by huge margins have some issues (Idaho or Virginia)? Or is it just that when a lot of people vote for Hillary they must be racist idiots. Just to let you know, you can choose to not support Obama and still not be a racist. Incredible, right?

20. that's a JACKASS comment!
I know 4 families who live in trailers - all are Democrats you smart-alec. I have lived in one also, and my father is from WV, and a Democrat. You got your mind set with your training from the TEE-VEE that everyone in a trailer park is a redneck right wing NRA member with a 3 sticker on their rusty pickup that has a shotgun in the window, don't ya?

pathetic and another reason we suck when it comes to being a strong party - there's far too many people

22. SS, I agree with you
when we drop down to just saying:
"Case closed. W. Virginians are morons. Thank God they don't have enough electoral votes to swing this thing."
then we just become as bad as the other side.

There are hundreds of thousands of good people in WV and to say "w. Virginians are morons", is very immature.

5. Saw those polls just now
Granted it's going to get a lot closer. Also someone from Kentucky posted this earlier:

Another important "fine print" point likely missed by many pundits... Kentucky isn't just a closed primary state, their registration rules are positively draconian. The deadline for currently registered voters to switch parties was December 31, 2007. Long before this contest ever began, so no chance of crossover shenanigans in the Bluegrass. It's all down to the diehard Democrats, and I'll take my chances as an Obama supporter with that crowd. I have a feeling a lot of voters on both sides are going to be surprised when they show up at the polls and find that they are registered Independents, something Kentuckians take pride in.

This could spell trouble for Clinton if people are going to try to cross over to vote for her.

Hillary made a great run -- but she lost.

The sooner her campaign accepts reality -- the sooner the Democratic party can heal & defeat McCain.

11. As a black man who lived in Parkersburg, WV for 1 year
I'm not the least bit surprised. It has a lot of friendly people, but I couldn't walk anywhere without everybody staring at me like I was weird or something. Many parts of WV make other parts of rural America look like New York City. I remember things like signs on the highway telling you to be sure to use the next restroom stop if you need it, because the next one would be another 40 miles away. 40 miles away? Yes, 40 miles.

21. yep
not knowing anyone different than one's self is a bad thing, indeed. It goes the opposite way also of course. A white guy in a black area is not thought of well overall, either. A majority of people, however, do not speak for ALL people. There are plenty of people who probably thought - wow a black guy here in Parkersburg, and nothing more - but more probably thought, "what the h!"

in SUPER LANDSLIDES on her way to the nomination. The MORE that is known about BO the MORE voters will want HRC as the nominee and ultimately the President. BO is unelectable.

26. 1) It's ARGH
2) It's WV, arguably redneck central...

3) But it's rather puny in terms of delegates.

4) She'd need a 60-point spread to stop him from crossing the 1618 line on the 20th.

Stop screwing around on this forum and start picking up the phone!

It is our distraction that is allowing Clinton to make gains.
