When Obama said there are fifty seven states, I believe he was thinking about
Teresa Heinz whose family is famously tied to the number 57. It's on every Ketchup Bottle, after all.

Anyway, Teresa Heinz released her tax return, albeit abbreviated, and Cindy McCain refuses to release any financial records of any sort. I guess she doesn't want her Husband, who once called her a expletive that rhymes with punt, to know exactly how much money she really has. She has to withhold something, after all. That has to be the reason she is holding her information close to her vest. I mean she can't have anything to hide now can she? Inquiring minds want to know.

That must have been why the number 57 was on Senator Obama's mind. Teresa Heinz and her tax returns.

That's the ticket.

1. He Had A Gaffe...
that's it.

We could say he was thinking about the territories, protectorates, etc plus the District of Columbia, but the fact is he had a slip up that will give the right something to chuckle about and make Obama sound like an idiot.

Oh, well. At least he knows the difference between Shiite and Sunni.

33. The only agreement was not to campaign there.
There was no agreement to not count the votes. Obama broke the agreement not to campaign when he ran radio commercials in Florida. That aside all votes should be counted.

The committee threw out Michigan's delegates as fair and deserved punishment and the candidates agreed to abide by that decision. Period.

32. I missed that, but think he might have been thinking 57 contests.
There are the 50 states plus American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, plus several states that have a 2 or 3 step voting process. Like the Texas primary and caucus, which are separate, Nevada and Iowa (I think that was the other state). It actually shakes out to 57 votes.

35. Uhhhhhhh, No.
That explanation is just dumb.

He had a little slip that he's laughing at now, and it was nothing more and nothing less. He likely meant to say 47 and it came out as 57. Big deal. He's laughing, we're laughing, and it's quite meaningless. But the way some here are trying to make up excuses for him is friggin hilarious, as if he wants or needs the excusing. This is a meaningless event and he even referenced it afterwards. It was just silly. Who cares. But this whole "let's make up excuses as to why he slipped like that. He needs defending!!!!!" is just so damn laughable LOL.
